When does morning sickness start?

I'm waiting on my dating scan but have no idea how far gone I am (well, between 1 and 3 months, I think).

Sick for the first time this morning, but felt very nauseous the last few days. At what point during pregnancy does it normally start?

Also...how do I cope with 2 young DC if I'm throwing up all the time, like with DC1?

Mine started at 6 weeks. Was my first DD but my friend used to give her DD jobs to help her while she was throwing up like fetching wet wipes to wipe her mouth etc.

Well, my nausea started at 3 weeks! But I think common time for it to start is about 6 - 8 weeks. I really sympathise as it's terrible. I can't offer you help on coping with another DC as I'm pg with my first and don't know how I would have managed with my ms. I know of someone who had to move back in with their mum so she could look after her DC for a couple of months as she was so ill! I'm sure someone here will give good suggestions on that though, but my initial response is cbeebies and ready made food!

I thought it usually started earlier rather than later! Which is good, the longer I have to prepare the better!

Just hope the sickness doesn't last.. DC1 is 4 and at school full time, but DC2 is 18mo, feel like I'm being a rubbish mum at the moment!

I didnt have any whatsoever! I found out at 6 weeks and have been very lucky to not get any! Ill keep my fingers crossed that you dont get much either! :)

emmyloo2 · 22/09/2010 10:16

I think for me it started at about 7 weeks and went until 15-16 weeks. I didn't have vommitting but had dreaful nausea usually after I had eaten or if I got tired. But it disappeared and has yet (touch wood) to make a reappearance (I am 33 weeks).

About 7 weeks with my first pregnancy.

Second time round, about 5 days post conception and was dreadful. By 7 weeks I could keep nothing down and was nauseous all day and night.

6 weeks. Started to die down at around 9 and is hardly noticeable at 14 wks.

LadyBaiter · 22/09/2010 12:06

Really hope it settles down! I had it so bad with DC1, can remember only being able to sip water for 2 weeks, even watching the TV would set me off! I don't know how I will cope if I get it that bad again! Also, how on earth do I disguise my pregnancy if I'm throwing up every five minutes?!

Started at 5 weeks for me. Really bad for until about 9 weeks (constant nausea, exhaustion, stomach cramps but no actual vomiting) then it settled down into a more typical, manageable, morning sickness. ie. I was generally fine by mind-morning but really had to take it slowly on waking.

thell · 22/09/2010 15:56

Another one for 6 weeks first time, this time perhaps a bit earlier, but not sure o fthe timing yet :o

LadyBaiter · 22/09/2010 15:56

So most likely, going by the average on here I'm probably 2 months or less. This is good! I'm finding if I lie down I'm fine, if I'm rushing about seeing to DC2 or doing housework it gets really bad the longer I'm on my feet. This is not so good!

Mine started two days after my missed period. I was due to come on on the sat and had a positive HPT and by the Monday I was as sick as a dog! I couldnt believe it! It lasted until week 17 and was the worst few months of illness I have ever experienced. I still baulk now and then when brushing my teeth etc and I am over 30 weeks now. Good Luck.
