No more free Pampers Hampers when you join Tesco's parenting club

Just an update, in case you've also recently joined Tesco's baby club. They had an offer on for a free Pampers Hamper. I think the voucher was given to me by the midwife as part of the Emma's Diary pack.

Tesco have now stopped this, claiming that Pampers don't have the hampers anymore. However, it's 2 months since I joined the club and I've only just heard.

Instead, they're offering a book of vouchers, which are £1 or £2 off here and there for different pampers packs.

This is really disappointing as you were supposed to receive money off vouchers as a member of the Tesco baby club anyway so the lack of a free hamper is rubbish. It was supposed to have some nice little bits in for mum too and, let's face it, everyone likes a freebee. That's why I joined Sad

Just sharing this with you so you don't end up disappointed too.

For info, the Sainsbury baby club seems okay and their huggies babypack was nice enough. Likewise, the Boots free changing bag and mat when you join their club is ok. Not brilliant, but good as a freebee.

I never got one in the first place and I registered over 2 and a half years ago. Never got the Boots changing bag either. In fact I got bugger all from any of them!

RedApple11 · 21/09/2010 23:50

Sorry to hear that Rockbird. Boots sent me a voucher for the changing bag and I had to buy a pack of pampers to get the free bag, which they have in their stores. As I needed some nappies for the maternity bag, this was fine.

Just peeved with Tesco for advertising the Pampers hamper and then not fulfilling their promise. No surprises there I guess.

I joined about a month ago and never received anything. I felt cheated. I suppose I now know why. Bet I can't remove my details from there. hmm.. surely they've broken some trading standards laws.

1Catherine1 · 22/09/2010 00:44

Actually... I can't believe how annoyed I am at that. I feel like they have deliberately mislead me in order to obtain my personal details. I'm outraged! I'm going to bed before I write a snotty e-mail I regret when I'm less tired and hormonal.

Hi,
We joined a little while ago, but it took a fair bit for us to get anything through.
It all came yesterday.

There's a note saying about the inability to keep up with demand by pampers and a little envelope with the following vouchers in:

£6 off Olay Total Effects Cream, Foundation etc
£2 off Max factor Products
and 3 £10 off £20 spends on Pampers Nappies (all sizes and variants)

Then in the boklet the usual £1.50 off, vouchers etc

RedApple11 · 22/09/2010 19:08

Thanks for the update NoSleepTonight. According to the email I got from Tesco, it sounds like this is what they're sending.

I still feel cheated though. With the vouchers they're sending, I still need to spend £20 in order to save £10.

That's vastly different to "here's a free hamper gift for your baby and some little freebees for mummy too". I don't know if you remember, there was supposed to be a nice little free gift bag for mums too as well as the baby hamper so I'm pretty disappointed Sad

I got this hamper and the freebies for mum were not anything special and I have absolutely no idea what the box is for! You're not really missing anything, I promise.

RedApple11 · 22/09/2010 20:18

Thanks anne74, I feel a bit better now. Just feeling a bit duped by the whole thing, which has gone something like this:

"Give us your contact details and loads of personal information so we can target you for marketing/sales and we'll give you a free hamper and some mummy gifts to say thank you. Oh, we're not doing that anymore. But if you spend £20, we'll give you a tenner off!"

Rubbish!

i agree the freebies (small tube of pink mascara, small tube of blue mascara, small smaple of tinted moisturiser, 2 strechy face packs) really werent worth it. and the vouchers that came in the pack are the same as they are giving away by the sounds of it. the box isnt that big and doesnt fit much in so ni really dont think your missing out on much

hth

bella8445 · 24/09/2010 10:36

I to joined to get the hamper and waited over to months to get anything from them, and the vouchers are no good for me as they have to be used within 3wks and ive got my nappies already and im not due for 8wks, i dont want to fill my home with nappies, i feel it was all a waste of time.

Dozeyland · 24/09/2010 10:49

I signed up to the Tesco club for the hampe thing about 4 months a go. and ddnt hear a peep. in fact i sgned up twice! no joy!

Swazzee · 24/09/2010 11:13

Bugger. Wish I'd read this last week - I signed up to Tesco at the weekend and was looking forward to getting my hamper. Oh well.

Feel a bit overwhelmed by all the vouchers for this, that or the other and keeping track of when they expire - I realised the other day that the Mothercare pack of vouchers I was given when I signed up in June all expired in July. Waste of time that was too - not due til December.

I do want my Boots changing bag though - I've had the voucher - just need to buy the nappies.

littlemisstax · 26/09/2010 14:46

I tried to get one in store a few weeks ago, and they were out of stock. I was told to e-mail their Customer Services team who said the following
"There is very limited stock of the Hampers at the moment due to issues with our suppliers and it has proved to be extremely popular with our customers so as soon as stores are getting stock, they're going straight away. However as a result, we've taken the decision to extend this promotion until the end of June 2011."
I've e-mailed them back - who knows what the story will be this time :)

Chynah · 26/09/2010 21:38

Never got mine - did phone them once and ask about it they reckoned they'd sent it and would send another - funnily enough I never got that either (their advertising tat seems to reach me just fine though :) )

1Catherine1 · 26/09/2010 21:53

Although they say their out of stock for me my local Tesco's still has a box. So I don't get the voucher but I still see the box every time I go shopping.

MissCKitty · 26/09/2010 21:55

The other thing that I'm a bit cross about is that I joined when I found out I was pg and got some vouchers through but they expire 30/09/10 and my baby isn't due til 29/01/11. So short of buying all my baby stuff now which is ridiculously early (am 22 wks) the vouchers are utterly useless Biscuit

Swazzee · 27/09/2010 10:31

MissKitty I did the same with the Bounty stuff and ended up with loads of useless expired vouchers.

And now to top it off I realise I've chucked away my Boots changing bag voucher with a load of rubbish I was sorting out! Looks like I won't be getting that either now...

I too was hoping for the hamper, but received the vouchers through instead.
I went to Tesco and they have got nappies on multibuy savings at the moment and managed to spend £74.00 on nappies which after the multibuy savings and using all 3 vouchers only cost me £30.00!

I got 2 boxes of size 2's, which were on 2 boxes for £20.00, and 8 packs of size 3's which were on offer for buy 4 packs for £20.00.

We worked out that we got almost 500 nappies for just £30.00, i don't know about you but i think thats a bargain! Grin

We were really pleased that we ended up with the vouchers instead of the hamper that we probably wouldn't even use!

The only thing was that the vouchers expire at the end of October which was why we decided to have a look at spending them now, and so glad we did! Im 29 weeks and not due till December so would have preferred to wait till nearer the time to spend the vouchers but i think it worked out for the best in the end!

Good luck to you all, and dont forget to check the expiry dates on the vouchers so you dont miss out!

RedApple11 · 27/09/2010 22:44

Thanks for all the feedback folks. One of my favourites is the rather nifty changing mat with the Sainsbury club - it's a huggies offer. I'm sure I'll use that when I'm out and about.

Likewise, the changing mat in the Boots changing bag, which comes with the zip case, is great as I folded the mat in half again and can get a pack of travel wipes and a couple of nappies in the zip case and just slot that into my buggy's basket without having to take the full changing bag out with me for short hops.

lulabelle - Don't worry too much about the parking permit as no one monitors the baby and child parking spots at two of my local stores. I've often seen big 4x4s and vans parking in these spots, with no child in site. When I've pointed this out to the instore Customer Service staff, they're seemingly indifferent saying they can't monitor the parking situation.

Just frustrating as I'll then see some poor mum struggling to squeeze her child out of a tight regular space because all the mum and child spots are filled. Grrrr

I signed up about a month ago and have had nothing from tescos or Boots except lots of spam emails clogging up my inbox.

anonMum2 · 28/09/2010 11:51

Don't remember getting much from Sainsburys or Tesco except vouchers. That was over 2 years ago and my memory isn't that great. Got the changing bag from boots.

This time Sainsburys has said that I won't be getting the Huggies pack even though I didn't get anything for my first, because the Huggies pack is only for the first child according. So I'm guessing my second child won't poo? Hmm

I didn't receive the bounty pack from hospital this time either, the one I got when I was pregnant last time. I remember getting loads of lovely vouchers (especially Pampers ones) from that. Am I remembering all these correctly?

RedApple11 · 30/09/2010 21:06

Quick update, the £30 off Pampers vouchers arrived today, which are only valid if I spend £60 on Pampers before 29 October, which is less than a month away. If I had a baby, then this may have been possible, but since my baby isn't due for another three months, these vouchers are pointless. And my baby's due date was on the application form so they knew this.

I expect most of the women who joined the Tesco Baby club will be in the same position as the application to join the Tesco/Pampers baby club was enclosed in the Emma's Diary pack, which was given to us when we first saw the midwife at 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Fecking idiots
