I went to see antenatal clinc after 32 week scan 2 weeks ago, which of course meant urine sample. They dip tested and it showed some ++ so sent it to lab for testing. Got letter on Thursday and I have infection, got antibiotics.

Anyway went back for consultant appointment regarding different issue and once again urine sample given. Have just read my notes and they have sent it off for testing again as it has some ++. I am still on antibiotics surely there will still be a trace of infection as I was only part way through the course?

Don't suppose it really matters, as I can just let my midwife know and I won't be expected to start another course of antibiotics if it comes back with an infection, or will I?

I would have thought half way through the course is not a very helpful time to take another sample (I realise they just do these as routine at every single appointment though). When I had a string of UTI's and they couldn't tell if they were responding to antibiotics, they asked for another sample after I had finished the course to check if the infection was still present. If still present at that stage then yes, they might prescribe a higher dose/ different antibiotic. As you say, talk to your mw about it. Do you still have symptoms?

I was told they would retest a week after course.

As for symptoms, still weeing alot but that could just be pregnancy normal toilet use. Occasionally getting pain in side but again he is head down so could be pressing on something there. Other than that kidney pain has gone now.

Think I will just let midwife know and presume they sent it without reading my notes.
