Braxton Hicks or contractions?

For the last 24 hours have been having really strong pains every 10 or so minutes but they only last about 20-30 seconds. They are not getting any worse or stronger but are at times unbearable. If these aren't contractions I'm not going to be much use during real labour!
How do I know if these are BH or labour?

Am 40+1 and had check up and internal at hospital today as they'll not let me go over 40 weeks due to age. Dr said I was nowhere near ready and induction booked for 27th.

I won't be able to cope with this for another week!

Any thoughts ?

Hi, I've been having tightenings now since 30 wks I'm now 39. I know how you feel as I'm going through similar experience to yourself only you are a bit futher on than me.

My tightenings are every 5 mins and last for 30 secs to a min and can go on for up to 6 hrs at a time, I feel like mine are getting stronger but I've been in hospital so many times with false alarms I'm hopeing I will know when it is time. I've had a show last Wednesday after a sweep last Tuesday and I'm 2cm dilated.

Hopeing someone will come a long soon to give you some advice, Good luck :)
