pineapple - fresh vs tinned

is fresh supposed to be more effective than tinned?!

I've been eating tinned pineapple on and off over the past 2-3 weeks to see if I can help coax LO/squeezes along, and sometimes I get a good session, other times I don't (I just get the runs!)

I bought a fresh one today on a spur of the moment thing, and I'm wondering whether it'll be any more effective?

Any ideas/hints/tips/experiences you can share?

I really don't think pineapple works.

IME sex does... but it was the worst sex ever Grin

wouldn't bother, you'd have to eat about 9 fresh in one sitting for any of the bromein to get into your system,

right up there with raspberry leaf for natural induction.

Best natural induction methods are sex and / or orgasm

good luck though

It doesn't work.

Your baby will come when it's ready. No amount of pineapple will change that.

There is no evidence that anything works to start labour really. It's a physiological/hormonal chain of events that occurs when your baby is ready to be born. Not something a bit of fruit and brisk stroll will start.

For every woman who ate pineapple/had sex/walked, there are dozens more who sat on the sofa/ate chocolate/watched corrie.

don't hold out much hope but we were told at NCT that it has to be fresh

The amount in semen isn't enough to kick start labour although there is some little evidence to suggest that it would work better if taken orally iyswim.

lol @ loopy

I hate that too - made that very clear when I first met DH, but am quietly thinking I may have to 'face' it! :o

No, this isn't my first, but I was induced at 41 with DS, due to CMV infection, so never really experienced the natural build-up for labour. Had loads of sex with DS, but that (obviously!) didn't do anything. I didn't know about RLT or pineapple back then either, so I ended up being dragged co-erced through my labour for him.

My drive isn't great at the moment, but I enjoy sex when we do. I've been doing the whole raspberry leaf tea thing, and warm baths, and walking around. All these give me plenty of BHs but honestly, I'm getting quite frustrated!

I ate nearly a whole pineapple in a day when I was overdue with DD1 and all I got was false labour and was induced a few days later anyway!

Just a quick note though, my obstetrician said go for it when I mentioned I was eating pineapple to help things along.

He recommended the RLT and the sex too... ho hum!
