Valentine, I'm 22weeks and have just joined a probiotic research study. I did take some yakult type drinks early on, I'm sure they're safe. I'm going to be giving them to my baby in powered form on my nipples whilst breastfeeding and later in their drinks and food. They are going to be tracking us for five years to see if there are any effects on asthma/allergies. Of course I might be in teh control group and get a placebo but I welcome the opportunity to be part of a scientifically controlled study. Touch wood, none of my first 3 have shown any signs of atopy.

thats very interesting - do you know where you will get the powdered form for babies from?

I contacted Yakult when I was pregnant, and they told me that there were safe to take during pregnancy.

I'm 35+4 weeks PG, tried yakult the other day as it was recommended in one of the baby magazines, and all it did was give me explosive diarrhoea about an hour after drinking it! (NB. I had it pre-PG and it certainly never had that effect before!)
