Hi,

My EDD is wednesday and I have an appiontment with my MW tomorrow, how likely do you think it is she will agree to give me a sweep if its possible??
She only works at the sergery on a tuesday so will have to wait anther week to have one if not.

Im starting to get a little fed up now and just want my labour to get started! :(

I shall read await these replies with anticipation as I want to know whether I should bother with getting the razor out and tidying up 'down there' Blush

I doubt it. In my trust you have to be at least a week over. If it's your first, you're very unlikely to be on time anyway. Relish the last few days, everyone told me this when I was fed up, but I wish I had taken the last few days just to relax.

My midwife has said she will do a sweep when I see her at 40+1 tomorrow - don't see why you would be that different - so yes maybe she will if you ask.

PaulineCampbellJones · 20/09/2010 21:44

Really depends on your midwife. Mine booked me in for one at 40 +3 (impending Christmas baby). She was then off sick and her replacement refused to do it until 40 +7
Good luck!

They like you to be late, like a week late,

but They gave me one at 39+5 because I'd had SPD since week 14 and was in agony and I begged her and yes... I cried!

DD was born at 6am the next morning :)

TotorosOcarina · 20/09/2010 21:47

No, I creid with exhaustion and begged for a sweep... I didn't cry because of the sweep!

Had one at 38+2 but was 2cm dilated and think that the consultant only did this because I was having tigtenings whilst in the room so she said she would check and preformed a sweep. Lost my show the nxt day ended up in central delivery on saturday but still only 2cm dilated. Having another sweep this Thursday I'm 39 wks today.

Good luck :)

Hi,I'm due on friday and am having a sweep at home.I thought it would be that i had to be a week late but my mw said they could do it if it was a "maternal request".Also i'm having a home water birth and i will get term +10 so i think they are really understanding of that. But i suppose it just depends on your team of mw's.Good luck!
