Pilates and pregnancy

Does anyone know whether it is okay to continue with pilates throughout pregnancy? I'm at 14 weeks - I haven't done any pilates for the last couple of months, but I have stayed pretty fit and can do still do the exercises fine. I'd really like to continue to do normal pilates (convenience of time of class), but don't want to do anything which might harm my baby.

Hi Buttercup and congratulations!!

I think it is really good to keep doing them if you can. I have started a session of pilates for pregnant women; a DVD class which is really good and I find it really helps posture, breating and soothing pains by stretching etc. I think Pilates are defo recommended.
Even if your class is not specifically for pregnant women you just need to inform your teacher of your condition and she will make sure to adapt exercises for you specifically.
I have met a lot of girls that have recently given birth and who regularly did pilates...all told me how much it helped them during labor!

Hope this helps! :)

I'm 21 weeks and do pilates weekly. My instructor just gets me to do something different to the others if I shouldn't be doing it. I definitely feel like it's making a difference.
