Hi Everybody

I am currently 15 weeks. Just come back from Orlando Florida
(yesterday)

Had a really tough time there I was sick everyday had dizzy spells constantly needed to lie down and rest.

Anyway just ate too much sugary items etc.

My midwife told me to ring her as soon as i got home to book an app to see her for the 16 week heartbeat thing.
But, the next availability was 11th october! I didnt realise I would have to wait that long.. I am really anxious to check the baby is okay as I had an early scan (at 8 weeks) so I havent had any checks for almost 8 weeks.

Is there anything I can do sooner?
thankyou

Ring your MW and get stroppy if you have to. Point out that you HAVE to have bloods at 16 weeks. Dating scans should take place between 12 and 16 weeks.
It may well be that she has not thought your dates through.
I would ring on Monday.

LovelyKatie · 18/09/2010 22:43

well the thing is you have to ring the doctors main surgery and get the appointment through the receptionist.

I asked why so late an she said because she is fully booked.

I then text and then rang my MW but got no reply and that was friday.

not happy

I didnt have a 12 week scan because I had an 8 week one.

I didnt know you could have another

Im going for my bloods on monday (20th) can they check its okay then or will they only take my blood an thats it? im very very anxious.

even if you had an early scan at 8 weeks - they should still have given you a scan at 12weeks as thats when they check that all is okay and take measurements regarding downs syndrome etc....they also take bloods at 12wks.

Have you had any testing results for downs yet?

You need to call them on Monday & insist on seeing someone to have the scan. When she told you to ring when you got back, she must have known the appts would be gone...so she should have booked something for you before you went to Orlando surely??

Dont take no for an answer....its not good enough.

Just to give you all an update.

Had my bloods today as I mentioned previously. Explained about the situation im in so much pain with my bump and touching it is no go.

So she sent me to the gyna emergency room, got seen by a doctor who pressed and said iv tensed too much and pulled muscles and then she checked for heartbeat and everything was fine

:)

So i feel very happy and reassured

in regards to my MW pffft. I told her about not being able to see her till 11th oct and she said 'theres not really much I can do' which is fair enough but when its 8 weeks then 19 its not really good enough!

Thanks for everyones help and advice I wouldnt of been so persistent had it not been for all you MN'S on here xx

Thats great news LovleyKatie - as long as you heard the heartbeat and feel reassured then that is the main thing. Im so glad they were able to put your mind at rest. When pregnant thats half the battle! Smile

Well done for being persistent xx
