Whats the process if you don't know how far gone you are?

Just missed a period, missed another 4 weeks ago, can't remember when I had a period before that (been all over the place). When I missed 4 weeks ago, I did a cheap test and it showed negative, thought nothing more of it. Just done another (clear blue) and it's shown positive.

So... any ideas how far gone I am? What will happen with the midwife? Will I get a scan asap? Also I have been taking my pill, are there any extra tests that I need to have because of this? I've been googling (bad idea) and it says there is an increased risk of birth defects or miscarriage.

Just one more thing.... how do I break this to DH? We were planning on a third but not for another couple of years, and right now it couldn't be worse timing!

Dating scan within a few weeks. Stop taking the pills now.

Have stopped as on my break (3 weeks on 1 week off). Really worried about that, although started another thread and was reassured.

Step away from google. Right now! I had 2 accidents whilst on the pill. DD is 13 and fit and healthy in every way as is DS who is 3.

Both times I had a dating scan within a week of seeing the gp. First showed I was 13 wks (eek!), second time was 5-6 wks.

You (and baby) will be fine.

As for telling DH, just say it. It's as much his 'fault' as yours. Mine rose to the occasion (no pun intended!!) both times no problem.
