I think baby may be transverse, anyone else had this?

I am expecting dc 3 and am pretty convinced the baby is transvers although this has not been confirmed. Currently 33 weeks but baby is measuring big, now measuring 40 weeks!!

I can hear the heart beat on the left hand side just below my ribs and the kicks are mainly in the middle and down the right. Really uncomfortable with lots of rib pain from what I presume is the back running along my ribs.

Any tips for encouraging baby to turn and has anyone else had this??

Both my DC were transverse. To me, I felt kind of stretched in the wrong direction, so my bump looked like it was running cross ways rather than down. I don't remember kicks being particularly painful.

Mine turned but kept on turning because I had an unstable lie so can't help with that, sorry.

My dc2 was transverse until 37+6 - day before elcs!

Think there's a good chance they'll turn (try googling methods of turning breech babies, it's a similar thing) but there are always some people like purplearmadillo for whom they don't!

If I was you I'd be getting it checked pretty quick (esp if you think that dc has been this way for a while). It's really important as if you go into labour / your waters break it can be very dangerous. If you know one way or t'other then you can be prepared, that's all.

Thanks Buttonmoon, I was thinking that, particularly as the baby is big so possibly more difficult to turn. I have a scan in 2 weeks anyway but I think I shall try and see the midwife sooner.

DS was transverse until I was 37 weeks. He turned on his own.
