I last had a baby nearly 2 years ago and they weren't really interested in booking me in until I was about 10 weeks. I didn't have a dating scan and I doubt you'll get one. I think most people get a 20 week scan and that's it unless your area does nuchal fold scans at 12 weeks as standard and not many do.

I didn;t have a first scan until I was 14 weeks, so perhaps this is normal. It definitely seems to depend on where you live.

hi it depends on your area, with ds i was seen by gp at 8wks then had to have a scan due to bleeding. Then saw mw at 11wks and had proper dating scan at 14wks.

With this baby I saw gp at 6wks pg, mw at 8wks and was booked for early scan but only due to having 3mcs. This then took the place of the usual 12wk scan. I havent seen people half as much this time despite my history.

It's all changed, chickster! No-body wants to know you till your booking appointment at 12 weeks ish round here. I also had to beg for dating scan at 12 weeks because I wasn't sure of my dates, they aren't done routinely until 20 weeks. My second midwife appointment was 21 weeks!

Just make sure you haven't disappeared through the cracks. I waited and waited to hear for my appts for my 2nd baby (due 17/12) and finally found out that the gp's office hadn't got the paperwork to the midwife..... I wasn't stressed about seeing midwife, just wanted the nuchal scan at the right time, before I was too far along. I would suggest weekly calls to your doctor's office, tough luck if they get sick of you

Last time around I saw the midwife at 7 weeks and had a dating scan at 8 weeks. This time I saw the midwife at 10 weeks and will have a dating scan at 12 weeks. The hospital booking-in appointment isn't until 14 weeks.

It might be worth phoning again just to check.
