Referral to St Thomas'

I live in Tower Hamlets and told my GP that I would like to be referred to St Thomas's for the birth of my baby. After 2 weeks of calling my GP and being told that the computers were down, the secretary should be typing my referral today I have spoken to the practice manager who told me that there was no chance of me being accepted Sad, I am not sure that she is telling the truth, would love to hear from any expectant mothers who have been SUCCESSFULLY REFERRED to St Thomas's.

Your feedback is much appreciated.

you should be able to refer yourself through a form on the st thomas's website or you can call their antenatal clinic and ask how to do it

I also live in Tower Hamlets and had all of my children at St Thomas'. I work here so that may have been an advantage. For my DS i had to battle with the GP to make the referral then for my twins there was no question. I am not sure if having been here once made the second referral easier. My advice would be to jump up and down, aviod the practice manager and refer yourself on 0207 188 8002.

I know what your alternative is and I was really happy with my care at St Thomas'. You too can experience labour in a taxi via the scenic route along the embankment!

Thank you BKD and Yellow flowers. I have found the referral letter however cannot find the fax number, do you know it by any chance.

Thank you so much! I am a little more optimistic now.
