Low PAPP-A?!?

Has anyone else had a low PAPP-A result?

Combined screening shows that I have a low risk of Down's but I understand that if you have a low level of PAPP-A then you are also at increased risk of some other very serious complications (IUGR, premature labour, stillbirth).

I'm now 16 weeks and doctor has organised scans at the hospital once a month to chart the baby's growth very carefully but wanted to know if any of you had any experience of this?

Thanks all
SG

Anyone? Now 22 weeks and all is well so far. But I'd still be really interested in others' experience of this.

I had a friend who had the same. She was scanned pretty regularly and all was fine - I think it is something they pick up in the blood tests and they just keep a careful eye on her and all was fine. She was induced at 41 weeks though as they were worried about the blood to the placenta or something. In her subsequent pregnacy it was not detected and proceeded as normal with no additional scans and no induction.

Thanks for your replies. I'm having detailed scans every month in the Fetal Care Unit - on both my blood flow, baby's and in the cord.

OkieCokie, good to hear that your friend was fine.
