Hello, I know some essential oils aren't recommended in pregnancy but I'm not sure which are safe and which aren't.

Any advice would be appreciated x

Don't use clary sage!

My friend was 33 weeks pregnant with twins. Didn't think about it and had a bath with clary sage in it. She went into labour 3 days later.

Luckily her DCs are fine but it was touch and go with 1 of them!

I would avoid them all tbh, just to be on the safe side.

I went to a vie at home party recently and the woman who done it was pregnant and she wouldn't go near any of the oils and said if there was anyone pregnant in the room, to avoid them too.

At least it will be a nice treat for you after.

What shower gel is it? I never even thought about oils in shower gel! Mine has it in. I was thinking about adding drops of oil to burn, or your bath or massage etc.

Be very very cautious, a lot of practitioners recommend none at all in the first trimester.

Lavender and chamomile are both very safe, and I think you would also be OK with tea tree and neroli.

I've no qualifications, but there are plenty of sources you can check (in print and online).

Neal's Yard do a good book called "Natural Mother and Baby" (by Karen Evernnet with Susan Curtis). I bought it from my local Neal's Yard store and it was 50% off a few weeks ago. It's got lots of useful info about essential oils during pregnancy and also during labour.

It's called good karma shower gel and has rose, cedarwood and jasmine in it amongst other things. I'll give it a miss I think! Thanks for all your advice xx
