The 20 week scan pic has my baby in profile and it's not attractive. The lips are very prominent so much so I thought the top lip was the nose, and the nose is just a lump squished on, and a massive one at that. I know all baby scan pics look weird and I know hormones means I will think it is the most beautiful baby in the world anyway, but I am genuinely a bit worried about it. Anyone else have this?

prettywhiteguitar · 06/12/2010 09:41

I am absolutely loving this thread, haven't laughed so much for ages.

looks like I may be giving birth to a bowling pin next year...the yorkshire terrier had me crying

giraffeshatewinter · 06/12/2010 16:04

My 20 week scan photo looks like the Joker - huge, freaky smile. Looks quite normal baby-esque in picture 2, and like mashed potato Grin in the others!

Deemented · 06/12/2010 16:14

I have a scan photo of DS2 taken about 24 hours before he was born (at 28 weeks) and as it was the image of him.

Deemented · 06/12/2010 16:15

Oh derr.... of course it was the image of him - it was his scan pic, ffs Hmm

What i meant was, you could absolutely tell it was him, not DS1.

lilly13 · 06/12/2010 21:19

Is this a joke? Have you read any books and have a slighest clue about fetal development? You should.

destructogirl · 07/12/2010 09:42

At my 20 week scan, DH made the comment 'it's like watching Alien vs Predator' Grin
My latest scan picture has an uncanny resemblance to Lord Voldemort's Dark Mark.
She will be beautiful though Smile

AmazingBouncingFerret · 07/12/2010 09:49

LOL! Destructo was just about to comment about your darkmark scan photo!
That one needs to be framed. Bless her little harry potter themed cottons.

DuelingFanjo · 07/12/2010 09:57

old thread though merrymomma Grin

OP's baby must be due soon :)

cupcakebakerer · 07/12/2010 12:15

Hee hee!! This post made me laugh. Some honesty is lovely to hear. I am sure your bub will be gorgeous - they are all squashed up in there. Anyhow they say ugly baby beautiful adult!

penguindays · 07/12/2010 12:26

Haha - great to see this resurrected as I started it. I just had a read through again and loved the comments from other people with ugly scan pics. Yes duellingfanjo I am due any day now so we'll find out what it looks like! And as I said originally, I am sure it will be loved regardless.

And to all the sanctimonious prigs who had a go at me and told me I just want a healthy baby - of course I do you arseholes - I acknowledged that in the first post. Get of you bloody high horses and either engage with the issue or keep quiet. Really pisses me off - no wonder people namechange for genuine worries they don't want to air.

Gah! - I may be grumpy and hormonal this week as baby due to arrive any day but if I can't say this now then when can I.

I had my 20 week scan today, so glad I read this today so I could have my expectations well and truly managed Grin

Baby moved around so much we were lucky to get one shot that were it doesn't just look like a blur and in that s/he seems to have a 1920s villian moustache! Just a shame that they're a few days late for movember. Although I still think it's the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen Smile

thefurryone · 07/12/2010 14:10

PS Good luck penguindays I never thought bad of you for bringing this up, I don't understand why people get so arsey when others want to talk about more trivial concerns, I mean I know pregnancy and childrearing is quite a serious business but I wasn't aware that a sense of humour bypass was required in order to be a proper mummy.

DuelingFanjo · 07/12/2010 15:25

Good luck Penguindays how exciting Grin

PassionKissUnderTheMistletoe · 07/12/2010 15:47

Am chuckling at this thread!

I was really unbothered about the scan pics although I loved seeing DD move around in the actual scan sessions.

DH and I were like "How much? Shock" when we bought the print outs and TBH I couldn't see much of anything in either of them!

OP you will be amazed at how beautiful your baby is when he/she arrives Smile

Looked recently at some very early photos of DD and can't believe that I failed to notice that she was bright yellow Blush - She looked utterly perfect to me at the time. It obviously resolved itself at some point!

penguindays · 08/12/2010 13:14

aw thanks - can you tell I was particularly grumpy yesterday?

Good luck to you too duelingfanjo - have been following you on here too as we have similar dates.

lololololololol - this thread had me pmsl. I got a scan at 16 weeks and i swear it looked like a monkey or baboon, massive overbite, i kept saying to the sonographer "are you sure it's normal, it looks like a monkey" she said it was, until i read this thread i didn't believe her. ha ha, thanks ladies.

Rootatoot · 03/05/2011 17:16

This thread is hilarious! I love it :) Our 20 week scan was done by a male (geeky)sonographer. Great at his job just picked a really blokey picture for us. The one where he commented GOOD SKULL! Seriously, not cute. A skull with limbs! Looks like a pickled goat :) Still we're having a boy so I reckon he'll think this picture of him in my tum is cool when he's older :D

befuzzled · 03/05/2011 17:24

My 3 gorgeous boys have cute snubby noses, slightly upturned. They are attractive children, even objectively. In all their 20 week scans their noses looked HUGE, like massive round knobs on their faces, they all came out cute and normal. Don't worry, I think angles and shadows etc all get exaggerated on the scans due to the nature of ultrasound.

glitterballmama · 03/05/2011 18:18

At 25 weeks my scan pic was awful, flat nose and massive protruding bottom lip, I was so scared she would be ugly, she was perfect and nothing like the scan pic! Don't worry.

DanHappyDadNow · 26/03/2024 22:01

I also really freaked out about our baby's ultrasound looks- protruding mutant lip and all, I was positively scared and had several conversations about this with my partner, and also tried to alert the technician. Then I found this thread.
Indeed, after forceps delivery the poor little fella had a rather big (swollen) upper lip. However after a couple of days it went to normal, and now he is a genuinely gorgeous boy at 6 months old- lesson learnt, I shall not freak out over ultrasound pics again!
Thanks all for your light hearted comments, it made us laugh lots and took the anxiety away!

Rootatoot · 27/03/2024 09:13

@DanHappyDadNow This is a very old thread. Mum baby is 13 this summer 😁

He is still cute and still does not resemble a pickled goat unlike his scan pic, pleased to report! Glad all is well with you r baby 😊

SantasRubiksCube · 27/03/2024 09:27

All my 12 week scans of my children look like they have a homer Simpson mouth, and when they were born they all had squashed flat noses, new babies just do look weird.....all my children are beautiful now though (even if I do say so myself 😁)
