Breast Growth In Pregnancy

Scaltini · 09/09/2010 20:56

Hi,

I am 26 weeks pregnant with my first and wondering when to expect a growth spurt in the breast region...

I was planning some implants before getting pregnant, and hoped that I might get some big boob experience now! :)

They grew a bit at the beginning, and I have seen vague things about them growing more at the end - any guidance anyone???

Thanks!

just wait until the milk comes in.... Wink

debka · 09/09/2010 21:45

yep, you'll be Jordan for a day...

sotough · 09/09/2010 21:55

not necessarily! my little flatties never do anything dramatic. my ribcage expands so i need a bigger bra but that's about it.
i'm normally a 36A. when i'm pregnant i think i go to about 36B.
not everyone turns into Jordan unfortunately! the good news? what you don't have, can't droop...

MissCKitty · 09/09/2010 22:56

I went from 32D to 36DD by end of first trimester but no further growth yet either, but as bessie said wait til the milk comes in.............
My older sister keeps telling horror stories about bra shopping in M&S 2 days after my niece was born. You can probably imagine the kind of things she's tormenting me with Grin

Samraves · 10/09/2010 08:39

:-s my boobs haven't grown at all and I am 29 weeks.... I am a 34AA and had hoped that they would grow a little!

But inconvenient as no tops fit me properly - whether maternity or just larger size... whatever is big enough to accommodate my bump just sags in the boob area :-(

Rubbish!

PickleSarnie · 10/09/2010 09:35

I've not got that much bigger - from 34F to about 36FF (bought some 36G bras thinking I'd fit into them but I overestimated things). They actually look smaller than normal since they are overshadowed by the bump. I'm 38+4 now so think that's all my growing done until milk arrives!

mrspear · 10/09/2010 09:37

Well pre pregnancy = 34 B; pregnancy 34 C then after (and still 11 months as BF) 36 DD!

Not sure i like them which makes my family as i always said i wanted to be bigger

mrspear · 10/09/2010 09:38

makes my family laugh

doh!

daisystone · 10/09/2010 09:55

I have only gone up one size but my ribcage seems significantly bigger. Sigh.

Scaltini · 10/09/2010 18:30

mrspear I want some of what you're having!!!

am jealous sotough, have biggest bazookas in world, which now, after 2 pregnancies, droop more than Nora Battie's tights....

saoirse86 · 10/09/2010 23:53

I was a 32C pre-pregnancy, went up to 32E by about 18 weeks then slowly went to a 34E which I've stayed at and am now 38 weeks. I was excited by the growth and the fact they're the biggest they've ever been but no one notices because they're dwarfed by my belly!

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 11/09/2010 00:48

Saoirse snap! I was a 32B/C pre-pregnancy and at 14.5 weeks I was measured and am 32DD/E. Having never been busty, am finding it a great novelty - as is DH!!!!

Scaltini I was also thinking of implants pre-pregnancy - and the idea is growing on me as my natural boobs grow (with sadness I know it won't last Sad). Does anyone know (thinking a long, long way ahead to DC2!) what affects implants have on breastfeeding?

saoirse86 · 11/09/2010 09:12

I've often thought about having something done to mine at some point in the future, and possibly more so now as they've headed south a little bit already. I have heard though that there's a risk they'll damage the milk ducts and a breast lift has possible effects of bf'ing too. I might just wait a couple of years and see how I feel. In the meantime I'll stick to the well supporting padded bras.

tanmu82 · 11/09/2010 09:33

I can sympathise, mine have only gone up a cup size from B to C (32") and I am 32 weeks, but they do look and feel 'fuller'. this is my 3rd pg and it was only when the milk came in that I got any real growth, and even then, I didn't look all that big because I had put on a bit of weight anyway. I am hoping for 3rd time lucky.....

Katmaid · 11/09/2010 13:58

Oh my word, mine are HUGE! I mean, compared to their normal size, at least. In the first trimester they went up from a B to a DD, then stayed the same for about 5 weeks, and started to grow again. I am now busting out of my DD bras, but am so loathe to buy any more! Last night DH wanted to weigh them using hanging scales, and I couldn't face it. Probably should, it would give us both a laugh and justify my constant whingeing about how sore they are, how my back hurts, as well as my insistence that he leaves them well alone!

Bunbaker · 11/09/2010 14:07

I went from a 34AA to a 36A, then down to a 34A when I was breastfeeding. I am now back to a 34AA again. I was gutted.

The upside is that at 51 years old I still have very pert boobs that don't sag at all.

mousymouse · 11/09/2010 14:07

started out as 34b, titty fairy came for a visit over night to give me a c cup. two days after birth she visited again when the milk came in. now still mostly d cup nearly 9 months on...

DuelingFanjo · 11/09/2010 14:09

I am 27 weeks and have gone from 36B to 38DD.

Zebraskinlady · 11/09/2010 14:11

I have to say that I wouldn't be too sorry about it, Scaltini! What doesn't get stretched can't droop or get stretch marks!
Katmaid, that made me chuckle about your DH! How exactly does he propose to weight them? Individually? My DH also found the size hilarious. It seems to speak to some sort of school-boy lurking within them. My sympathies for the soreness. Are you putting anything on them?

Katmaid · 11/09/2010 14:17

I know! He's got these scales that you can hang things from, for luggage I think, and reckons he can suspend each one from it using a scarf! I can't see that it will be anything less than humiliating, but I expect we'll both get a good laugh.

I didn't use anything on them at first, but recently have been rubbing phytaoil into them, the same as I use on my tummy, and they have actually been feeling a bit less tight. My mum wants to take me for a bra fitting tomorrow. I'll fill you in on the hideous truth, but an F-cup wouldn't be shocking.

BuckBuckMcFate · 11/09/2010 14:18

I was a 32DD, am now wearing 36GG. I am expecting them to get bigger again at the start of bfeeding.

I have always gone back to being a 32DD after my other 3DC and I'm really hoping the same happens again after this one, GG is just too big!

DP took a photo of me on the beach recently and I was thinking it'll be nice to have a photo of my lovely bump. When I got home and looked at it each of my boobs is the same size of my head! Shock

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 11/09/2010 14:48

katmaid you have my sympathy. Mine were so agony in first trimester I couldn't move without wincing! Poor DH was v upset he couldn't play with his new "friends"! !! Shock

Katmaid · 11/09/2010 14:51

Thanks, Nowpanic! I do feel mean, I know he is really chuffed with them, but I just can't really face having them played with!

Also, and this is a bit paranoid, I don't want him to get used to them- both look and feel- in case he is disappointed when they go back to normal!

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 11/09/2010 16:12

Katmaid I'm in same boat! Am getting more tempted by a boob job as a post baby present to myself every day. Not only will DH def be disappointed - so will I! (but when they were sore he wasn't allowed anywhere near them without a piercing scream from me - it's not mean... it's necessary!)
