Hi

Just a little concerned. With DS about 10days to week before going into labour (at 40+3)on the occassional evening I'd have mild period pain like cramps right at bottom of bump. They'd be relatively regular but only short & go on for a bit. Well I'm 32+6 today & out of the last 6 days I've had 4 evenings where every 6-10mins I've had the same cramp pains in the same place lasting about 30sec each & going on for around an hour!! Should I be contacting my midwife or is it normal in subsequent pregnancies for these to start earlier than before but not lead to anything!!!
Seeing midwife next Wed & not sure if I should call her before. I realise all people are different but any experiences welcomed!

hi think these could be braxton hicks. i had them from about 30-32 weeks quite regularly, if they get worse or stronger then yeah would call midwife.

Thanks for your reply. I always though BH were when your whole bump tightened, didn't realise they included localised cramps too! Had a pain free evening last night, but if it does come back with more intensity I'll be on the phone to MW.
Thank you

I found the description of BHs as "painless tightenings" REALLY misleading!

I'm 35 weeks now and for last week or so have been having what feel to me (this is DC2) exactly the same as the start of labour contractions, except they go away after about an hour and ease up when I walk around. It took me a while (and a bit of panicking!) to realise these were probably BHs and not the start of labour.

I didn't have any BHs (or at least not that I can recall) last time.
