Thanks

Its just another check on your full blood count (iron levels) and on your blood group and antibodies. No biggie.

and glucose so make sure you don't eat just before it or they'll end up asking you in for a GTT!

... its really daft to advise someone not to eat at all - the limit on glucose levels is around 7 which after food is totally normal.

OP, please eat normally - if there is something abnormal about your glucose level then yes you would need extra testing but this isn't that bad, and as someone who was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, I've found it not that bad (and 2wks before bubs is due have found myself losing my baby wt already :) ).

It's not in the slightest bit daft to advise against not eating 'just' before the test.

Yes 7 is normal after food but I got hauled in twice for readings of 7.2 and 7.4 (again perfectly normal but their upper limit) for a GTT and it was all because I had eaten in the half hour preceeding the test. I had the GTT the first time and all fine. The second time I insisted on another blood test where I had my lunch an hour before and again it was fine at 4.6.
