So while I wait for the midwife, what are the odds this is JUST a sore head?

I've had terrible swelling this pregnancy, culminating in a mild panic about DVT at the weekend. I've been sleeping with my feet on pillows with freezer blocks around them but the skin's still hot, red and burns when I move or walk. I've also had borderline high blood pressure since 34 weeks - now 37 weeks, and the odd trace of proteinuria. And now I've woken up with the same blinding headache I had before I went to bed. I've taken 2 paracetamol and had a pint of water. My body's just giving up the ghost!

Did you see a doctor at the weekend? If not, I'd call NHS Direct or your GP asap TBH. It's not worth messing around with the possibly scary stuff.

Is the midwife on her way?

ThatDamnDog · 07/09/2010 08:56

Yes, saw midwife and GP. Calling midwife at 9 to get my blood pressure checked. Totally sick of this pregnancy!

Have you seen the midwife THatDamnDog?

vmcd28 · 07/09/2010 18:10

how did you get on...?

ThatDamnDog · 07/09/2010 22:50

Sneaky mumsnetting from a deserted antenatal ward ... Not quite sure if I'm doing the pre-eclampsia thing or not so they've held me hostage and they're mothering me terribly. Head still hurts like a bastard but they're giving me stuff for it which has helped a bit. If bloods improve tomorrow I'll be freed, if they don't it's the knife unless my cervix performs some sort of miracle. Pray for my cervix, mumsnetters! :)

Oh dear, are you ok ? Deserted ante natal wards are so lonely at night. Its good they are mothering you. Hope you are released in the morning and things calm down. At least you are in the right place now, its no good sitting at homw fretting. good luck.

I'm fine ta, better deserted than it was when the poor woman in the next cubicle spent 3 hours dithering about induction while her extended family discussed its merits over her head. Thankfully sensible midwife sent her home, hope she gets peace there! Have got cold feet though - in a hospital! - so shall spend time composing strongly worded letter to my MP re grassroots effects of cutbacks. And thinking about lotus flowers opening or whatever that shit is Grin

Hope everything's ok?

Morning DOG. I'm grand thanks, I made my escape last night although they want me back tomorrow. So today is mad purging day in case I bring a baby back! Things are no better no worse so they couldn't justify incarceration any longer - those were the consultant's word's! Just trying to prepare for what might be a few weeks of coming and going and juggling childcare and DP's work and transport ... Ugh. Labour starting around now would be ace.

On that note I'm off to collect 30kg of dog food and do some shopping Grin

Thanks for thinking of me :)
