When does the bump 'drop'?!

Anyone know when the baby bump is supposed to drop? And when it does drop does that mean that the baby will soon follow?! I have 3 weeks left, my bump has dropped a bit, just not sure if it's supposed to go down any more!

I think first babies drop a few weeks before due date. Is this your first? My MW told me this morning that my baby is 3/5 engaged, which means that my bump has dropped. I hadnt realised this to be honest!! It means nothing in terms of labour. Some babies can be fully engaged for ages before deciding to join us in the outside world;)

I had 2 inches which appeared under my boobs and so thought he had dropped. When I went to see the mw on Wed, she said he hadn't dropped. Since then, that gap has disappeared and is now part of my bump again. I am now 37 wks exactly and and am just hoping it happens soon, as I am presuming he will be out not long after :)

Yes, it's my first.

Lou, that's what I am hoping, surely if the bump has dropped then baby will soon follow?! ... may just be wishful thinking though!

I'm 37+3 and my bump dropped about 2 weeks ago. AT my last MW appt (at 36+6) the baby was 2/5 engaged. I've definitely seen another drop in my bump since then and have a good 4" between my boobs and baby's bum now. I'd seriously like to think this means something will happen soon but I'm not getting my hopes up too much. I've asked others and been told it can be several weeks after bump dropping/becoming engaged to birth.

Saw mw again today. Appparently, he has now moved down, but tbh, I can't actually see any difference in my bump and am still getting kicked in the ribs constantly haha.
