When did you gain the most weight?

I am trying to keep an eye on things and am pleased with my gain so far as I was overweight to begin with. I'm 30 weeks. Is it likely that most of the weight will actually come on now?

Fingers crossed it won't!

The doctors do weigh me when I go but never, ever comment on it.

How much have you gained Red? I'm also 30 weeks and have gained a stone so far... however, from what i remember in my last pregnancy, most of the weight came on in the last month!

I gained most of the weight during the first trimester (eating lots to control sickness). I actually only gained about 6lb total in the last trimester, although I actually looked slimmer at 9 months than I did at 7 - I think I lost fat as I gained bump in the last 10 weeks because I couldn't fit much food in at any one time!

Although my real gain was post natal - I assumed I could eat whatever I wanted as I was BFing and gained about 10lb in 6 weeks...

I lost 6kg in the first 18 weeks. Nausea mainly, not eating large amounts and being pukey. Since then I've put on 2kg and I'm 26 weeks. MW seems happy so far. I'm not hungry and I'm heading back to nausea again now I'm heading into the third trimester.

I think because I am overweight anyhow they aren't so worried about the loss and the small gain. LO seems to be doing fine in size, next scan at 32 weeks.

My weight has seemed to pile on in the last month, I am now 37 weeks, it's all going on the bump though so will hopefully be baby weight rather than me getting fat!

Try this weight gain calculator - you put in your pre-pregnancy weight and height, as well as how many weeks you are now.

from other weight threads on here everybody is different. I put on quickly in the 1st tri trying to control nausea, then very steady gain 2nd tri and now into 3rd tri last week (31weeks) i actually lost 2lbs and have not put it back on. ( I can barely face food or fit any in).

I was exactly the same with my 1st I only put on about 6lbs in the 3rd trimester when everybody told me that would be the biggest weight gain Hmm

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 06/09/2010 14:46

I've gained 11 pounds so far by my records. But the doctor didn't weigh me until I was about 8 weeks and I had gained 4lb by then so they only have me down as gaining 7lb!

According to those calculators I should be gaining between 12 and 20 pounds so am within the limits, I just don't know if it will all start piling on now!

I will watch that about breastfeeding Hopefully. I would love to end up lighter than when I started, it would be a step in the right direction.

Red if it makes you feel any better, by the time DS was about 15 months I weighed about 10lb less than I did before I got pregnant, so all that stuff about weight falling off when you're dashing round with a toddler must be true!

Of course, I'm 10 weeks PG and piling it back on again. Maybe this time I'll end up 20lb lighter Grin

saoirse86 · 06/09/2010 20:26

I gained a stone in the first trimester, 2 stone in the second and about 7lb in the last (although I've still got a couple of weeks to go).
However, I was only 8stone 5lb pre-pregnancy and could do with a bit of weight gain. To be honest, I don't look huge and I really do think much of the weight is on my bump.

withorwithoutyou · 06/09/2010 20:28

I think this really varies from person to person.

For me, both times I've barely gained anything in first trimester, then piled on about 1 and a half stone in the second (!) then probably half a stone in the last trimester.

I think that pregnancy calculator is calculated to depress. I weighed 8 stone at the start of my pregnancy and put barely anything on until 20 weeks. I now weigh about 9 stone 4 and most of it is bump, yet my bump is very small and measuring 5 weeks behind (I'm 34+5). The calculator thinks my maximum weight should be 9 stone. Apart from my very first GP appointment, no one has weighed me or been bothered by weight gain and I still fit in size 8 (albeit maternity) clothes. I agree with withorwithoutyou it varies person to person.

Elsa123 - really? That doesn't sound right at all. How tall are you? I just tried putting 8 stone, 34 weeks and a height of 5'4 in and got a maximum weight of 10stone 9lbs.
