Hi there,

I live in West Ealing (W5) and would like to have my baby at Queen Charlotte's. However, someone told me today that I am not in the catchment area.

I tried looking for information about catchment areas online, but couldn't find anything.

Can anyone tell me what the catchment area is, or how I can find out?

I don't know how you can find out about catchment areas sorry but I used to live in W13 and had my DS (5) in Queen Charlottes.

I got in from w5 but you do need to get your request in pretty early. I think their core catchmrnt is w3, w11, but they do take from outside if they have space.

forgot to say has your GP not told you?

This was how I found out and was given a choice of Ealing hosp or Quenn Charlottes.

'We provide antenatal and postnatal community care via four teams of community midwives covering our catchment area. The geographical areas covered correspond to the local PCT area: W3, W4, W6, W12, part of W5 and part of W14.'

Found link here

I would hasten to add that I live in W11 (i.e. not listed), but because I requested early, am having my antenatal care and birth there.

I'm in W5 and I'm being dealt wtih my QC. When i went to see GP he gave me a sheet and told me to make my top 3 choices whicI did. At first I was told it would be unlikely I would get QC and then I received a letter from Ealing confirming a booking appointment. A week later I had a letter from QC so needless to say I cancelled the Ealing appointment. Best of luck and Congratulations btw :)

Thanks everyone. I am actually a complete idiot and wrote my own postcode wrong - I live in W13!!

So not covered by their catchment. However, it seems that if I just ask nicely there's a chance :)

If I wrote down my preferences, I would have:

  1. Queen Charlotte
  2. ??
  3. ??

Any suggestions? I've just moved here, plus being a lucky, heathy person means I haven't been to hospital since I was born!

Ealing hospital and maybe Chelsea & Westminster? I had a massive list but wanted one close by.

Go to your GP to let them know you're pregnant and they should tell you the ones available to you and then they apply on your behalf. Or at least that was how it was for me. Good luck!
