I'm bored and stuck in bed and wondering how two pregnancies can be so different.

DC 1 - tired first trimester, bit of heartburn, manageable SPD, worked til 37wks no problem. Elective section for breech, boy.

DC 2 - nausea, exhaustion, excess salivation and bad taste in mouth during first trimester. Blood pressure threatening to be a problem throughout. SPD much worse until treated by osteopath but sacroiliac pain too. Swelling to the extent of painful stiff joints, and blistering skin. Separated rectus muscles causing abdominal pain. Carpal tunnel syndrome. Urine leakage. Piles. Spots. I think that's it but I've still got 3 weeks until due date. Worked until 34 weeks but struggled.

This baby's going to be better natured than my first, right?!

Ailments:
Pregnancy 1: nausea and dry retching till 16 weeks. appalling migraines which made me wonder how i could possibly go through it all again. carpal tunnel syndrome, and very painful leg cramps in the miiddle of the night at the very end. otherwise picture of health.
Pregnancy 2: total loss of interest in food all the way through so far. am 21 weeks. very dry mouth at night in the first trimester, which comes back now and again. occasional retching in the morning, still, and not many things i fancy eating. heartburn just beginning to kick in.
just thrilled to be pregnant after lots of miscarriages so don't feel complainey but losing my taste for food has been a bit miserable. still have to eat or get a migraine.

sotough, I feel bad for complaining when we are lucky to be pregnant. Hope you start to feel better soon :)

Pixie you give me hope for a [cough] [sneeze] sort of birth :)

Pixie I have decided that that is how my baby will be. La la la happy in my imaginary make-believe world...

Oh gosh, I could go on forever:

DC1: all day morning sickness for 3 months, off lots of food for rest of pg (DH had to make my lunch), sacroiliac pain meant I could barely walk for much of the time, a bit psycho in the head, anxiety, near depression, hypothyroidism bought on, thrush

DC2 (37 weeks): more morning sickness, leg cramps, some SPD symptoms, piriformis (leg muscle) syndrome, insomnia on and off for about 8 months (that's the worst), carpal tunnel, hypothyroidism, constipation on and off, cricked neck

Urgh, I just generally loath being pg!

angels1 · 05/09/2010 18:51

well, I'm only just 16 weeks and I've had 3 months now of bad nausea, exhaustion, headaches, insomnia, restless leg, adversions to most foods yet needing to eat all the time, back ache, increased anxiety, horrible taste in the mouth on and off, total loss of any 'intimate action' with DH, constipation on and off, odd rashes, water renention, massively painful bloating, wind, breathlessness, massive tooth sensitivity, dizzyness, heartburn and thrush (twice).

I seriously hope this improves as I'm not sure how I'm going to get through the next 5 months!

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 05/09/2010 21:43

Will anyone thump me if I say I feel really well?

I'm 30 weeks and just starting to get a bit achy in my pelvis but it's manageable.

Giddyup · 06/09/2010 12:41

Baby 1: nothing, nada, just a bump
Baby 2: excess body hair, spots, nausea for weeks 6-16, tiredess but also extreme calmness which is nice. Oh and definitely excess saliva; I drooled on DP's face when we were having sex!

ceasar04 · 06/09/2010 13:26

DS1 - Hyperemesis but managed by staying in bed for most of the time and drinking lots of water. Worked on and off till 36 weeks when Ds arrived early and quickly!!

DC2 - Currently 27 weeks pg. Hyperemesis again but alot worse, hospital twice and a variety of drugs. Started at 4 weeks pg (was testing neg but being sick!!) and still on going, you can't lie in bed all day with a 2 year old appraently Wink.

SPD just diagnosed, ow, ow ow. Seeing midwife for physio ref on thurs.

Horrific heart burn if not being sick, should have shares in Gaviscon. Threaten to leave DH if he ever buys me the aniseed one by mistake again.

Irrational anger towards DH

The biggest itichiest rash I've ever had from knees to just under boobs, including arms. Fortunately now on a med that deals with sickness and rash so its slowly going away.
Been off work first 6 weeks after BFP, managed to go back for about 8 weeks and then meds stopped working so off again. Can't see me going back before baby born. Miserable and stressed most of the time.

DH and friends and family have permission to clout me if I ever contemplate this again...

Rant over....and relax....

Dreemagurl · 06/09/2010 13:38

Complete mind-numbing, bone-crunching exhaustion. feels as if I'm walking through treacle most of the time. Am 34 weeks and never really got the second trimester bounce that people rave about. Not too much sickness in the first 3 months although now I feel sick if I don't eat for a while. Can't eat a lot as baby takes up all the space!

Occasional irrational anger at DP although he is the loveliest, sweetest, most understanding man in the whole world, and remarkably adept at handling my hormonal craziness.

Rash on inside of legs that itches like crazy at the most inconvenient of times.

Not enjoying pg at all!
