Anyone decided to get a jane pram?

I want a travel system and like the look of the lie flat seat but is it safe???

Also, do you go for the old version of powertrack, old version of slalom (without easy clips for car chassi) or the new slalom pro?

Any advice as need to sort this ASAP baby due in 6 weeks.

I haven't got one, but I looked at them before buying a Phil and Ted's. I did find some criticism of the Jane on various online review sites, which put me off. There were some reservations about the safety of the lie-flat car seat - and the amount of space it took up. I'll have a rootle about and see what I can find...

Hi Lexie, I have bought a Jane Matrix combo from ebay having heard good things about it. I have the swivel wheels (like a buggy) as the damn things are so heavy and last time I ended up ditching the £450 pram and using a lie back buggy instead. After a trial run, I found attaching it to the chassis no problem.

The Matrix car seat is really safe, If you can get a 'pregnancy - baby and you' sept 2005 magazine they have a review of it and they say it is the best lie back. I love the idea of baby lying flat and just popping it on the chassis rather than the usual baby carrier where they are all squished up. You can also make it into a stage 0+ car seat by folding it in half (I may have to do this if I have a car full of kids because flat it takes up two car seat belts/spaces.

Had our Matrix Powertrack for 2 1/2 years and have very few criticisms. The lie-flat car seat was brilliant and in 2003 was one of the safest seats your could get. Our baby was so comfy in it we even used it for overnight stays a few times. Also as an 'upright' car seat it could last until baby was 28lbs. DD has only just reached that weight at 2 1/2 but her legs would have been hanging over headrest by now!!

We bought a Jané Matrix with the Carrera chassis (because the 3 wheel chassis takes up the whole of our boot!) - depending on the length of your middle seat belt the lie-flat may need to use the two outer seat belts and thus take up the whole back seat.

Tragically this has all been a waste of time for us as ds isn't keen on car journeys so it's much easier if one of us sits in the back with him, but even more crucially, hates lying flat and tends to throw up a great deal. So we have abandoned the lie-flat, turned it into the sitting upright seat and the poor little thing is much happier sleeping with his head all on one side and squished up, which is exactly what I wanted to avoid

Ive had my powertrack matrix for 19 months now and i love it. The lie flat car seat was one of the main reasons for buying for me as I think m/w's and h/v's have become very lax on giving advice about your baby lying flat.
I cant stand seeing people with those graco systems and poor baby is put from car to pram and then back to car and left in the car seat bit whilst you do shopping etc, they are in them way way too long-the beauty of the matrix is you can transfer from car to buggy etc and you dont have to worry about how long theyve been in there as theyre laying flat anyhow.
As for safety, the matrix car seat has won about 11 awards and if you google it you should find plenty of reviews.

We have the powertrack and matrix (slalom not invented when we bought) it is now 21 mths old and we use it all the time. Uesd the matrix as a pram for the first four months and used it in the car lie flat a lot as have to travel a long way to visit family. Think it is great. Still use it now and haven't bought anything else. Like the way as a pushchair it is nearly flat if DS fancies a sleep.

I can see some faults in mine but this have now been updated and my friends whose baby is now 9 days later is much better.

Depends what you want out of a pushchair so as long as you research into what you need then it should be ok.

We both love pushing it and it fits in our MPV easy and we don't need the option of a lightweight one.

I was going to buy the Carrera C with Matrix seat, when i went to the shop to order it, the lady there asked me if i wanted to use the matrix laid flat in the car as "its not very good for that", her words not mine.

Have decided on the Carrera Pro now with carrycot and rebel car seat instead.

Was told the Pro version of the pushchairs are better because the car seat, carrycot etc can be removed from the chassis one handed.

I bought a Matrix Powertrack when I was expecting my daughter in 2003. There were good and bad points about it - the lie flat car seat was an excellent idea but VERY tricky to fix in the car in this position. I also found it very tricky getting the car seat on and off the chassis. The pushchair didn't sit up very straight and my daughter looked slumped when she was old enough to sit in it. In the end I sold it and bought something else after less than a year.

I'm using one for my 6-month-old. Good points - safety (came top in the Which report the year before we bought it). Great if you happen to have a very small baby; both mine curled up in a ball in normal car seats for the first 2 months at least. Fantastic for moving from car to pram to house while baby sleeps on. They can just have all their daytime naps in it for about 5 months, and you can go out when you like without waking them. And you can put them in in their grobag too. Fits into the car very quickly (quicker than any of my friends with click-and-go seatbase thingies anyway). The Powertrack is lovely to push. The pushchair seat is quite reclined, but they like to lie back to start with, and when they learn how to sit up they don't use the backrest anyway.

Bad points - takes 2 seats in the car. Tricky to get on and off the chassis (although once you've learnt the knack its easy). Quite cumbersome to carry as a carseat (light, but awkward). I don't like the seat in the upright mode - its too upright. Disc brakes on the Powertrack need adjusting a lot.
