Vertigo at 23 weeks - normal dizziness?

I'm 23 weeks (24 on sunday) and feeling really dizzy - the room is going up and down. (I'm not drunk! Grin) Yesterday I went on a river boat for several hours, and this has happened to me before, after a river trip - I get vertigo and feel like I'm on a ship at sea. Sometimes for days and days. Sad

But of course, being pregnant, I am Paranoid and wondering if it's a BP thing. I had hypertension towards the end of my last pregnacy, which I'm very worried about getting again, as it led to an induction, etc. But isn't dizziness a sign of low BP, not high? Or am I wrong? WWYD?

I think I might contact my MW soon if it doesn't pass. I'm just sitting here at the laptop, not doing anything energetic.

You should contact the MW or doctor immediately to be on the safe side but yes, being dizzy because of feeling light-headed is due to low-blood pressure. I kept on having to lie down in my second pregnancy - once on the floor of the doctor's waiting room!

They were talking about dizziness and vertigo on Radio 4 last week.
If this link doesn't work just google 'Radio 4 case notes dizziness'.

Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy.

They were, weren't they? I remember hearing it. I and my mother both suffer occasional vertigo when we've been travelling, usually by boat, and I think this is what it is. It's passed now, luckily, but I'm still seeing my MW in the next week and will talk to her about it.

I get vertigo regularly (last bout lasting roughly a month) I would say it is best to mention it to you MW but it may be coincidence.

Will take a listen to the radio thing as I haven't heard it yet, thanks.
