How long after being 2/5 engaged did you go into labour?

I'm 36+6 and had a MW appt today. She told me the baby's engaged and wrote 2/5 in my notes. I know this means that she could feel 2/5 which sounds to me pretty damn low.
Can anyone enlighten me as to how long it might be before I go into labour?
She did tell me I MUST be prepared and get my bag sorted, and asked lots of questions about what I had decided for my birthing options. It kind of sounds like it might happen soon. I'm really not sorted and don't go on mat leave till next thursday.

8 weeks here, dd fixed and fully engaged from 31 weeks. Means nowt.

And being prepared at this stage is just good sense. Normal pregnancy is 37-42 weeks so your midwife is just checking you're prepared.

Don't listen to her! They get your hopes up too much!! I remember being really excited when I was 2/5 engaged at 37 weeks. I too was told "any day now, this one will be early" etc. Finally gave birth after being induced at 41+5!!!! I felt really cheated by the midwive telling me I'd be early, I felt like I was pregnant for a whole extra month. If it's your first baby, it's best to assume you'll be overdue, then anything else is a bonus Smile.

weeks here too

pebblejones · 02/09/2010 19:59

Here too!
And I ended up being induced in the end!

littlemisslozza · 02/09/2010 20:01

Induced at 41+5 after being told I was 2/5 at about 36 weeks. Sorry... hope you don't have to wait as long though!

EdgarAllInPink · 02/09/2010 20:01

8 weeks.

i had at least one week with baby fully engaged and waters bulging (i could feel it)

On the flip side, I had a check-up at 40+1 and baby wasn't engaged at all - I went into labour 3 days later. So I don't think it's a reliable indicator of anything really!

6 weeks here

GrumpyFish · 02/09/2010 20:20

almost 10 weeks - was 2/5 at 32 week check up, DS was 11 days late. It means nothing, sorry!

Not what I wanted to here ladies!!
Oh well, at least it's given a small kick up the arse and made me do some washing and got my bag almost sorted.
It's also made my DP agree (after about 3 months of nagging) to come shopping with me and sort some furniture for the nursery.
