No Bump :-(

Can anyone help me ease my mind this one...

I am 14+5 and i have no bump at all. Don't get me wrong i do not have a washboard stomach as i had a horrible little pouch before i fell pregnant, but am not overweight at all. My stomach has got bigger but when i say bigger i mean fatter, then it goes flat where the baby is.

I had my first scan, which was fine, and heard the heartbeat at 13+3 but i just don't understand why i am not getting a bump but just 'fatter'...

Help!!!!

I didn't really show until 20 months - even then I had a tiny bump. As Butterfly said, no stretchmarks - and I've had 3 Grin

sanielle · 02/09/2010 17:55

God I hope I don't get to 20 months!

I actually had a thread on here saying the same as you when I was about 23 weeks - a few weeks later I was HUGE!!!

ILovePonyo · 02/09/2010 18:06

I had a pouch instead of flat stomach before I got pregnant, and it also just seemed to get fatter.

Am 17wks now and even now I just look fatter rather than nicely pregnant! So I can sympathise, if its any consolation people keep telling me to give it a couple of weeks and it will grow overnight. Can't wait!

Purplebuns · 02/09/2010 18:14

You want a bump now but you won't by 35 weeks Wink
I bought my first maternity tops at 5.5 months, normal tops before then.
I didn't get a 'good' bump until the end and even then I wasn't Huuge. It is to do with having good stomach muscles, to hold everything in. :o

lucybrad · 02/09/2010 18:21

yes, just be thankful. When you have a bump you'll wish you didnt!

Wallace · 02/09/2010 20:08

This is my fourth and I didn't really get a bump until after my 20 week scan. 28 weeks now and not enourmous but very definitely have a bump Grin

PinkiePoo · 02/09/2010 20:12

Good to see i am not on my own then.

Just feels so weird how there can be a baby inside me yet i cannot feel it....as in no bump!!

Hopefully one day i will wake up, and ta-da...a bump. Then it will seem real!!

Ooh snap, I'm 14+5 with my second DC! I've got a tiny bump, that if you didn't know me would just look like I have a bit of a tummy. With DD I was a lot smaller at this stage but then was mahoosive towards the end!

Wanderingsheep · 02/09/2010 20:17

Oh and don't worry, it will seem very real when your baby is kicking you in the ribs and bouncing on your bladder! Grin

BikeRunSki · 02/09/2010 20:17

No bump uniotl about 6 or 7 months either.
At 5 months I went to a wedding in a shift dress and no one believed I was pg.
At 6 months I had an argument with a not-very-old lady on a train who did not believe I was pg and accused me of being rude and unthoughtful for not getting up for her.
When DS was born, my neighbour said she didn;t even realise I was pg!

But - no stretch marks either.

Jo2002 · 02/09/2010 20:19

Signs of my baby bump were all towards the end of my pregnancy and even then i only had a tiny bump but my boy weighed in at 8lb 1oz so i shouldn't worry to much especially if everything was fine on your scan.

stripes02 · 02/09/2010 20:25

annoying innit?
when I was 5 months people kept going on and on (in my perception of what was probably people just trying to be polite) about how small my bump was....
till i felt really paranoid the baby was too small/i was working too hard/i was a bad mum etc etc etc
by 41 weeks I was soo HUGE... And dd was respectable 8lb

Purple is right, it's just you've got good abs girl! (hahah you won't by the time it's all over though! thats why number 2 is always way more obvious!)

Enjoy :)

PinkiePoo · 02/09/2010 20:34

hmmm i am a dance teacher so maybe i have....with clothes on i look about 5 months preggers, without, i look so fat its disgusting. People say ahh look at your bump, er no that is flab, ha ha!!

I have no doubt i will be moaning that i am so big and can't move before i know it, but its reassuring. Now i just keep wondering if little bean is ok in there.

But so relieved to know its not just me.

I'm 37 weeks and only started to get a bump at 7 mth. Even now, everyone always says I look about 5 mth.

Unfortunately, because I grew so much in such a short space of time, regardless of how small oI still am, I still got stretchmarks :(

My midwife said I had good stomach muscles, so I think a mixture of that and being 5'10'' is a big factor. You never know, you might just wake up one morning and will have had a growth spurt. That's what happened to me. Plenty of time yet.

ShrimpOnTheBarbie · 03/09/2010 13:54

I didn't have a bump until about 26 weeks with both - and even then it was barely visible under loose tops until I was well over 30 weeks. I was hoping I would look more pregnant and less like I'd been eating too much cake with DD2 but apparently not! On the plus side I have no stretch marks and a flat tummy again. I also think it made the pregnancies easier. Don't let well meaning people, who tell you you're tiny, worry you - I had two good sized (7.12 and 7.8) girls and not a huge amount of pregnancy clothing to disperse of!

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 03/09/2010 20:29

I didn't have one until about 25 weeks and even then I could still hide it well. I am 30 weeks now and still in some of my 'normal' clothes but growing every day!
