I've still got so much to do! Including sorting DS's (2) new room so we can move him out of nursery, and getting manky wall in our bedroom plastered and painted Aaaaah!

Oh yes - 37 weeks today and tonnes to do and still working full time. So nice to find a kindred spirit!!!

It will be alright (repeat in demented mantra tone).....

But desperately hoping that the baby doesn't come early.

ethelina · 02/09/2010 17:44

I'm 40 weeks today and only packed my hospital bag on monday...

ethelina · 02/09/2010 17:46

When I went in for ECV 3 weeks ago I just shoved some baby stuff in my bag just in case. Thank god I didnt need it...

MadameCheese · 02/09/2010 17:48

When are you on mat leave? I feel for you. Me too Grin 42 weeks (as with DS) is looking pretty appealing at the moment.

37+3 and I'm nowhere near ready either. But to be honest, even if I'd had the gestation period of an elephant to give me more time, I don't think I'd ever be ready!!

thefatladyscreams · 02/09/2010 22:10

PickleSarnie - you have just summed us up! Grin

My mum was telling me that she had her bag packed from 7 months - obviously didn't inherit her organised gene...

sedgiebaby · 02/09/2010 22:42

Yep 38+2 and not ready on any level lol, if you know who I need to talk to to get an extension on my pregnancy do let me know :S

I finished work yesterday though so maybe I'll collect my thoughts and get my act together soon ...

ethelina · 02/09/2010 22:48

Yes MadameCheese it did! Thank goodness. No CS for me (hopefully). Now just waiting for him to get moving...

cardamomginger · 02/09/2010 23:37

36+4 and still in denial I think. If kiddo arrives early it will be sleeping in a shoe box on the kitchen table....

MadameCheese · 04/09/2010 17:28

Good news ethelina, hopefully you'll have something to tell us soon Wink(when you're ready of course :))

38+2 and totally bricking it. Feel like this won't happen and there won't be a new baby. Feel so sick at the thought of birth, am a total wimp.

ethelina · 04/09/2010 19:19

MadameCheese hot bath - yes, curry - yes, long walks - yes, baby - non

BambooStalks I still feel like the baby is a myth so far. I'm in limbo and only 2 days over. I decided a while ago to just enjoy each day and bugger worrying about stuff I can't control.

SoozleQ · 04/09/2010 19:54

I'm 34 weeks and still in work, our bedroom is currently in bits - full replastering, new windows, skirting boards ripped off, that kind of thing - all our possessions have been chucked in what should be the nursery so we can't get in there to prepare it at all, I have no baby clothes, nappies, pram or anything else although the other half did have a spurt of organisation a few weeks ago and ordered the car seat and moses basket (no bedding for it though!).

I'm hoping that I'm not 5 weeks early like my sister was - that would be bad!

bessie26 · 04/09/2010 21:12

Just thought I'd mention I had DD at 34+5 & was totally unprepared! I ended up having to tell DH over the phone what to bring me ("in the tescos bag, you'll find the maternity pads & big granny knickers...")

Good Luck!

MammyG · 04/09/2010 22:06

Hmm on one hand am a little prepared (bag packed - I live hours from the hospital tho) on the other have given up trying to be prepared. Its my 3rd and I have never been ready. So many do big cleaning sprees house re organisation etc I can just about move out of my own way at the moment! Plus to be honest am too knackered! I think sleep and r'n'r are the true essentials at this stage especially if its not your first. Also in the first few weeks babies dont need much clothes and food. Our babies room isnt ready but she wont be in there for at the very least 6 weeks anyway so hopefully will have it sorted by then. Also need to see what we get as pressies before I go out buying extras.
Am off to take my own advice and have nice cuppa with feet up while all is quiet!!
37 +5 weeks

ThatDamnDog · 04/09/2010 22:12

Fab thread. 37 weeks and only packed a bag in a panic yesterday morning as when I called the ward for advice they wanted me to go in. I have been nesting a bit but have lost all my momentum so I'm lying around content that as long as I have boobs and paracetamol the rest will fall into place.

whammie76 · 04/09/2010 23:44

To put things in perspective ladies - I just given birth naturally 2 days ago and I was 37+3 wks. I wasn't even finished work yet, was due to finish yesterday, but DS considerately decided to make an appearance on my day off.

Only reason my hospital bag was packed and car seat were already in my boot, was because my blood pressure went up last wk and i had to stay overnight in hosp and they said I would be induced if it kept going up. It didn't but I decided to keep my bag and notes on me just incase. Be prepared. Wink

SpottySlippers · 05/09/2010 16:56

C section booked for next week and bag half packed, worse though is the house, we are coming to the end of a huge extension/refurbishment. We do not have a kitchen, dining room or sitting room at present, everything is covered in dust from plaster and stone cutting and there is not one internal door hung (waiting for these to be made they were promised two weeks ago), its not much fun going to the loo with the builders in the house! Slightly concerned DD's 1 and 2 will be awake most of the night when they hear the baby - hey ho. Builders say floors and kitchen should be finished by 16th Sept (the day before my section)! Hmm

pescatore · 05/09/2010 17:04

38+4 weeks. First baby (unplanned but not unwelcome). In utter denial. Today we put up a changing table and I complained about the amount of space it takes up in our bathroom. Methinks next week I might pack a bag for the hospital and perhaps consider the baby's bed (which is sitting in lots of bits in the spare room).

MadameCheese · 05/09/2010 19:12

Noooo whammie but also horray! Well done to your DS :)
Spotty Slippers Shock, I suppose you've just got to think of how it will be when finished - lovely of course. Hope you are sorted soon, puts my chimney breast into perspective :)

went to buy the pram at 39 weeks and nearly had a fit when the shop said normally took a month to deliver. It was the first thing on my to do list as well! Anyway, DC was two weeks late so we got by. It will be ok.

cinnamongreyhound · 05/09/2010 19:55

I really wasn't ready but it's amazing what your due date can do!! Gone from being happy to be pregnant a bit longer to get out baby, now! Starting to worry about induction as I was induced with DS and don't want to be again. Really had enough of being pregnant now at 40+5.
