Things to enjoy during pregnancy

Hi all, thought I'd start a new thread to try and bring some positives to light. It's so tempting to complain about pregnancy - nine months of blooming and glowing my a%^&!!
To that end, let's cheer ourselves up by focusing on all the good things (yes, there ARE some!) So here are some of mine - please add yours as well.

    • Let's go straight for the easy one - at the end of 9 months, you get an adorable little bundle of joy who will love and adore you unconditionally and who you can love and adore unconditionally.
    • This is definitely subjective, but I have to admit I quite like the attention that being pregnant gets. People look at the bump and smile at you in the street; strangers are kinder to you and ask questions about the baby. You do get some special consideration at work (I am pretty lucky as they're mostly women where I work). It's also a great conversation topic - I never get tired of talking about it (quite possibly, everyone else does!)
    • Chocolate. Come on ladies, let's be honest, when else in your life are you going to be given pretty much carte blanche to eat chocolate without feeling guilty. We're pregnant, we're going to put on a few pounds. We even need to eat an addtional 200-300 calories in the final trimester - that's a KitKat or a Wispa bar that's purely medicinal. Also apparently there are studies showing that babies whose mothers ate chocolate during pregnancy were happier than those whose mothers abstained. Sounds like a good enough reason to me!

There are lots more, but let's see what else you can come up with! :)

ha ha ha ha ha. But then I don't like babies much either.

Having people be nice, carrying shopping, opening doors etc

Feeling little one wriggle around, having them all to yourself safe and tucked away

Buying things for little one, the anticipation and excitement

As well as those outlined by OP, mine would be....

Not having to hold my tummy in and in fact now I'm 31 weeks I couldn't even if I tried.

Feeling not one bit of guilt when I go shopping and buy half the supermarket, or am stood with several bars of chocolate in hand at a checkout. My DH thinks it's ace that we get to have pudding after every evening meal.

Being able to shop for clothes for a whole new person- and aren't baby clothes GORGEOUS? I am sure when I was a kid all clothes were brown or orange and made of itchy wool or corduroy. Now they are so beautiful I almost cry when I see them. Especially the little tiny shoes, aww! They make up for the rubbish clothes I have to wear when pregnant.

People being generous- gifts, seats on the bus, taking me out for meals etc. My mum has even started knitting again and has made some adorable things.

Having some really rather saucy dreams involving some rather famous men. Grin

Temporarily perfect-looking massive boobs!

If they do get much bigger though then I'm sure they'll be a real hindrance.

nymphadora · 02/09/2010 18:32

My baby has made me go off chocolate!

ethelina · 02/09/2010 18:39

Chocolate and pudding here too.

moonminmama · 02/09/2010 18:49

I have to agree with the boobs one as I usually have none at all ( just a shame dh isn't allowed near them most times because they are so tender!)

Looking forward to buying new baby clothes (hopefully pink ;)

Eating whatever I want, whenever I want

Dh treating me even more special than usual

The general smiles infer when passing complete strangers

berrycravings · 02/09/2010 20:02

I love the feeling of the little one kicking away, so lovely when i poke him and he kicks back.

The excitment every day about getting to meet him.
Buying baby clothes
Getting foot massages from DH

and just knowing that I am growing a little person.

saoirse86 · 02/09/2010 20:31

Stroking my bump and being able to feel little feet sticking out, so sweet!

MammaDavies · 02/09/2010 22:13

seeing the baby clothes on the line omg is there anything cuter!!

Claz1001 · 03/09/2010 10:37

What a nice thread!

I'm enjoying looking at (and buying some) of the baby stuff in the shops, eating for two (not the best idea, but I just can't help it) and talking to my DD about her new brother who will soon be with us. Not in that order, by the way!

missdt · 03/09/2010 11:12

redbird my OH is also loving that we have cake and biscuits on tap - I'm normally not bothered and we have fruit instead. He can't quite believe his luck.

Dreemagurl · 03/09/2010 11:18

Hmmm - my OH doesn't get much of a look-in when it comes to chocolate at the moment.... Blush
