Hi, I've posted the full story here

sorry for the double post but there are two possible outcomes so I'm trying to get both. Iyswim? Smile

No experience I am afraid, but a bump for you anyway. Hope you get the outcome you want! Congratualtions on BFP too!

Congrats on your pregnancy! I've ummed and ahhed about replying as I have a more negative experience of this. It was during my 12 week scan that I saw my healthy wriggly baby but also a second sac with a fetus that stopped developing at 8 weeks next to it. We were thrilled to see our healthy baby but there was a real sadness that the second baby hadn't made it - it was a strange feeling as we hadn't known we were expecting twins until we knew we weren't if that makes sense. I haven't had any bleeding etc. the second twin will probably be absorbed by the developing one, it's called 'vanishing twin syndrome'.
Sorry to provide a more negative experience - not of course that it is truly negative as we are really thrilled to be expecting our baby. Good luck with your pregnancy and hope all goes well

I had an early scan in my last pregnancy, where they found one heartbeat and another shadow. The sonographer suspected, but could not know for sure, that it was a non-viable twin.

"Vanishing twins" are thought to be quite common, and my DD is definitely a happy ending.
