hi,
am 11 weeks tomorrow and just had my 1st scan date through today for 3 weeks time - this will take me to 14 weeks and thus to late for nucal tests etc
i know my dates are accurate as ive already paid for a private scan as i had heard they take a while to come through round here (leicestershire), so my question is does anyone know if theyll bring it forwards easily,
At booking in appt at 9+5 asked midwife how quickley scan comes through and she thought soon as they like to scan you at 12...
thanks

I'm in Leicestershire too and I wasn't actually offered a Nuchal Scan on the NHS. It's not standard across the country so it may well be irrelevant whether or not your scan is in time for the Nuchal scan. Worth checking with your midwife/hospital.

I originally had scan date sent through for 16 weeks rather than 12...I rang and spoke to someone who re-arranged and brought it forward 4 weeks. Had to push, as they said they only had what they had but when I arrived at the hospital on the day half an hour early (as we didn't know where we were really going!) they actually saw me straight away! Will this be your booking in app too?? I found I had to wait longer for all the other bits and bobs than the actual scan bit...I'd recommend ringing and making a nuisence of yourself as the tests they do may influence some decisions you make. This wasn't the case with us, but I did make this point to the lady I spoke to and it seemed to help move thigns along....good luck.x
PS This was in Manchester.......

Why don't you give them a call and tell them you can't make the date? I did that with mine (as I actually couldn't make the date they had given me) which was scheduled for 13.6 weeks, and they had an appointment a week earlier which i took instead. Why they didn't offer me that in the first place, I don't know!

thanks all,
I tried with no luck, they said in a nice but firm way they're booking upto 18 weeks for first scan??! I asked about nuchal fold she said they'd do downs tests until 20 weeks, think she missed my point a little. i've treied contacting mw, but couldnt get through. ho hum .

oggybags, did she mean that they do the Downs triple blood test up until 20weeks? It's not actually a scan - the NT scan (if done) as you say needs to be done earlier.

It just sucks you have to wait so long! Every day drags when you're waiting for it!!

bigstripeytiger · 02/09/2010 22:22

It sounds like they are only going to offer you the blood test, so you would need to go private if you want to have the nuchal done.
