Acid reflux from a ham salad roll?!

Ham?! Salad?! And bread?!

What part of that fatty, grease and acid ridden combo could possibly have given me heartburn like this?!

Is no food safe to me now... [shakes head in woe]

I feel your pain Grin
I have had similar from a cheese salad roll eaten several hours ago now. It truly is the pits. Thank god for gaviscon.

I can see you and raise you.....a glass of fecking water. WATER I tell you. Is there nothing that won't set me off now? Am popping rennies and guzzling gaviscon like an addict. Realised that I sat in a meeting today witha white ring around my mouth. Nice.

I only have the chewables and they stick to my teeth. Not sure whats more attractive actually, white mouth cack or blue teeth. Tmw, lunch is cucumber, with a side of cucumber. Surely THAT cant kill me...

Well ham is really salty so that's probably what has done it. I feel your pain as I had reflux before and it was SO much when I was pregnant. Cold water was a killer!!!

plasticspoon · 01/09/2010 18:21

For me it would be the bread as I find it makes my heartburn 10x worse

Although I do feel your pain as pretty much anything will set it off (a la bamboostalks :o)

Julezboo · 01/09/2010 18:27

EVERYTHING gives me acid reflux! Just as my hyperemesis has eased off, Im now supping the gaviscon Grin

getstuffed · 01/09/2010 18:40

water, not even cold.....gaviscon is my life but I'm due on the 18th, hurrah!

PaigeTurner · 01/09/2010 19:25

I'd bet it was the bread - esp if it was white.

I suffered terrible heartburn before I was pg, it seems to have eased off since (famous last words!)

GuernseyFrench · 01/09/2010 19:39

I feel your pain, I'm out of it now as DS is out, but I use to have a bottle Gaviscon in my handbag, on my bedside, in my office draw and was necking it very quickly... Good luck, it's all worth it at the end Smile

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 01/09/2010 19:55

I got it after eating a slice of cheese earlier. Squash also sets it off.

Remember you can get your gaviscon on perscription and perscriptions are free!

Chynah · 01/09/2010 23:03

with #2 (late turnng breech) I got acid reflux just from breathing!!! Get omeprazole - ab fab!!

Valpollicella · 01/09/2010 23:06

Did it have cucumber in? The cucumber skin is v v hard to digest!

nomoretablets · 01/09/2010 23:10

Another vote for omperprazole, you can get it from Boots only I think, but it's about £7.99 for a pack of 16 so get it on prescription definitely.

I go thorugh horrible phases of it, without warning. On the plus side I am now almost a size 8 as I can't have greasy / fatty stuff.

Pregnancy heartburn is the WORST. Angry

I also get it from drinking water. What's that about?!

Sometimes its absolutely excrutiating.

I don't think there is any explanation as to why it comes on sometimes- very random healthy foods still give me it. Best thing is to eat slowly, sit upright while doing so and have the Gaviscon on tap...

Rocklover · 02/09/2010 09:06

I get heartburn from EVERYTHING, even a night-time cup of Horlicks fgs. Gaviscon is a permanent fixture in my diet, it's really annoying!
