just wondering how other people at a similar stage are feeling - this is my 3rd baby and i've been pretty laid back about all the little twinges and feelings since the 1st time round and not panicking about how i feel and what it means...but because it's my 3rd i was expecting to feel movements earlier and more often this time.

all i can feel are digestion type movements and gurglings! all too high up to be baby and i always have them so know it's not baby. even when relaxing, lying in bed or bath i still can't feel anything. i know it's still early days but everyone else a similar stage keeps going on about how active their baby is, and my last one was very active and continues to be a very active baby!

i heard the hearbeat at the midwife appointment a week ago, but am just not expecting to feel nothing at all at this stage. i keep telling myself it's a chilled out baby and i saw it wriggling away on a scan a few weeks ago. can't wait for it to get a bit bigger so i can feel it wriggling around.

Well you may have an anterior placenta.

I have one and I didn't feel anything up until about week 20. Then the movements were quite faint and hard to make out. Now I am 28 weeks I feel it a lot more.

I don't think you will have had your second scan yet - that is when they wrote on my notes that I had an anterior placenta (they didn't actually tell me!)

Hiya

I'm 20 weeks now and haven't felt a thing, seen it moving loads in scan last week but still nowt. I have anterior placenta too so maybe that's why... like you i'm trying not to think too much about it either... i'm sure we'll be kicked black and blue soon Smile

I am 19 weeks and haven't felt baby move. I have an anterior placenta. I had an anterior placenta with DD and didn't feel her until 23 weeks so I'm not expecting to feel anything for another few weeks.

I am 24 weeks with dc3 and have anterior placenta didn't feel proper movements until 19 weeks x

quitescared · 29/08/2010 17:49

Hi - just to second everyone else's comments - have an anterior placenta and didn't feel movements till quite a bit later than with one and two.

Hope that is your situation and that everything else is fine.

Hi - I'm also on 3rd baby and didn't feel movement til getting on for 20 weeks and then not very much. Again- placenta is anterior.
I felt baby #2 at about 12 weeks so this was a bit of a surprise. The location of the placenta makes a huge difference - baby #1 was also anterior placenta and I didn't feel him til about 20 weeks either.

naturalbaby · 29/08/2010 20:34

never thought about the placenta! only getting next scan at 22weeks so got a while to wait but that's 1 of questions i make sure i ask - i'm planning my 3rd home birth so want to be sure the placenta is in a good position.
felt 1st baby at 16 weeks and 2nd at 15 weeks i think. i've felt the odd possible bump and lots of mini tightenings which feels really strange - don't remember getting those this early either.

Oh me too, lots of tightenings! i had loads last time, but not this early.

If i cough or sneeze i feelsomething,or if i pull my legs u to my chin i can, but not just sitting there, hmmm i know anteria placenta will stop you feeling the movements as the baby kicks that instead of you untill they get really big and give you a good thump lol

i have ages till my next scan, i just hope the movements get stronger so the worrying can stop.

mejon · 29/08/2010 20:57

I'm 20 weeks and have only been having what I imagine are slight movements for the last 2 weeks or so. I'm convinced that I've been having little tightenings the past couple of days too and have just googled to find out how early those appear! DC2 by the way.
