Survey: Stretchmarks - when did you get them and where?

In your first pregnancy - if you did get them, that is:

1. When did they first appear?
2. Where are they?
3. Also, for those who are on number 2+, did you get new ones in subsequent pregnancies?

I'm 31+4 and they haven't started yet. Would love to think that I won't get them but the beauties on my hips (from adolescent growth spurt) suggest otherwise. Unless I developed hips faster than my bump is growing!

1. 39 weeks (almost unnoticeable at this stage)

2. concentric rings around belly button, big red/purple streaks on boobs (after milk came in)

1. 13ish weeks

2. all down tummy, and got higher as the PG got later - by 35 weeks, I looked like I'd been attacked by a tiger. I have silvery ones on my boobs, but don't recall these ever being darker, and can't remember when they arrived.

3. 2 and 3 shared the same stretchmarks, and they were never as red as with DC1. DC4 has thoughtfully created its own stretchmarks.

Around 7 months

Got them on my boobs only

I didn't get them in either pregnancy. First DS popped out at 37 weeks and second arrived at 39 weeks. I do wonder if things would have been different had I gone overdue?

Mum and Grandmothers never got them though so it might be genetics.

I got them on my lower tummy during the final hour of my (48 hour!) labour when my baby turned. Most miffed. Also got some on my boobs, which have grown to gargantuan proportions.

got them post birth/ during 48 hour labour too - well went to hospital without them and came out with them!
Second time, again during labour but less than before - first lot have faded second lot dd said look like scratches from the cat.......none on boobs though.

Got them at the bottom of my bump to about an inch or so below my tummy button. I thought they hadn't appeared until 38 weeks but DH informed me they'd been there for a few weeks - I just couldn't see them!

During labour? Gosh, really?! You really do learn something new every day on mumsnet .

Yes, boob stretch marks....forget that I did actually have these pre-pregnancy. They aren't showing at the moment cos I have gone up a few sizes!

with my 1st i got one at bout 9 weeks on my boob, ive always had a small chest so i guessed i would get them, and then i got some on my hips from 30 weeks but none on my belly.
but as for now im having my 2nd but not that far so im sure ill find out soon :)

got mine about 3 weeks ago, roughly when baba engaged (am 35 weeks now). they're just on my lower belly at the mo and are quite pale. my mum only got them here during late pregnancy, so fingers crossed my boobs will survive in tact :)

Am 37 weeks, had stretchmarks on lower belly since about 30 weeks (I do have a big bump) and in the past week they have appeared above my belly button!

38 weeks, which was a bugger as I gave birth a week later (they could have hung in a little longer), and I got them around my belly button, however I noticed once DD arrived and I could see my lady garden again that they had actually gone all the way down my lady garden (attractive). Didnt get them anywhere else though

I didn't get any at all with my first 2 pregnancies but my third well and truly made up for that . I got them around my belly button and some on the tops of my thighs.

41 weeks today, not got any yet.

1st pg (age 38) got a few, under the bump (ie lower part of tummy) at the very end, say 38 weeks+

2nd pg (age 40), no new stretchmarks.

I think I got away lightly!

35 weeks middle of bump.. rest in labour, I have the belly of an 80 year old burn victim! from under my boobs to my pubic hair.. YUCK! TMI?

I didn't get any - but DD was born at 37+2 and given that others seem to have got them at the last minute then perhaps her early arrival was what saved me.

But re: your comments about adolescent stretch marks - I do have the silvery remnants of those in abundance on my thighs and boobs. So stretch marks in pregnancy are not necessarily predictable by reference to stretch marks that appeared at other times IYSWIM.

i'm on my first pregnancy, they started at 20 weeks (in all fairness i was tiny to begin with and have put on lots of much needed weight), first appeared on my arse then on my boobs. am 30+3 and none on my bump or anywhere else...yet.

i was hoping to get away with only having them there but, after reading this, feel more are comming.

I'm in my 1st pregnancy, currently 36+2 and have none despite having loads from puberty (I was a VERY early starter). I thought I'd definitely have loads as I was only 8 stone 5lb before and have put on 3 and a half stone so far. My twin sister (who has pretty much the exact same set of stretchmarks from puberty as me) started getting them at about 25 weeks I think, they're under her bump, on hips and thighs.
I'm pretty sure I'll be one of these people who gets them right at the end. That must be seriously annoying getting them during labour, who'd've thought!

1. When did they first appear? -39 weeks.

2. Where are they? -In a sort of 'V' inside my pelvic bones (on the outside though of course!) on the underside of my bump, I guess from when ds engaged.

3. Also, for those who are on number 2+, did you get new ones in subsequent pregnancies?
   -Not yet, but only 36 and a half weeks now. The old ones are stretching out and going red again.

With 1st pregnancy I didn't get any. This time I've got 3 small ones that have appeared on my left hip from where I had stretch marks from my teenage years and they appeared around 33 weeks. Hoping I get through these final few weeks without bump sprouting any.

forgot to say, i also have silver teenage ones on my hips that were never red or even pink...

got my stretch marks on my bottom - no prices for guessing where all my pregnancy weight went! Didn't know about them till after i had DS as couldn't turn round enough to see

Interesting to hear that puberty stretchmarks and pregnancy ones aren't always related.

My god, dribbleface I hadn't considered they might be developing away on my bum without my knowledge! Honestly, I've put on so much weight there over the last few weeks that I think it may be making a bid for world domination . Dh started laughing at me yesterday because it's poking out the back of the dining room chair now

Same as Doodleydoo. only had one when i went in to hospital. had emergency c section - tummy riddled with them. i reckon it was all that poking/ prodding around they did.
