Hi everyone :)

I was five weeks pregnant on Thursday, and I only just started taking folic acid last night - I feel really guilty and worried I haven't been taking it sooner :(

Would you recommend also eating foods high in folic acid as a priority as well? sorry but this is my first time and I'm not sure what to expect/do! xx

I would imagine many, many women do not realise they are pregnant until the four or five week mark. I certainly didn't with my first pregnancy.

Your diet may already be rich in folic acid.

Anyway, continue with the tablets - they give the daily recommended dose and try to put it out of your mind (I know, easier said than done).

Good luck and congratulations! Smile

Certain foods like cereals etc already have colic acid in them so chances are you've been having enough already.

Make sure you take a pregnancy supplement and not a regular one.

Congrats!
