O.k so I bought my prenatal vitamins. And stopped taking my multi vitamins because I was worried about too much Vitamin A. Here is a question, Is it possible to take too much folic acid? I have always taken a 400 mg folic acid tablet, and now have 400mg in my prenatal ones...is it possible to take too much and could it harm my baby?
I did read that it is a water soluble vitamin, and you end up flushing it out naturally?
Just wondering..this is all new too me. :).

I think you flush it out naturally, but I'm not an expert... Smile

That kind of dosage should be fine. If you had a history of epilepsy or spina bifida in your family you'd be prescribed it at a 4000mg dose, so I can't see how 800mg wuld be harmful.

I am taking 5000mg which is much much more than you take - this has been prescribed by my GP and is normal practice for people who have had a baby before with a neural tube defect - so 800mg won't do you any harm at all and might do you some good.

Also on the 5000mg tablets (plus 400mg in multi-vit) because of previous MCs, even this level can do you no harm at all, you will just pee out what you don't need [smiley].

Folic acid can increase morning sickness, so if you suffering with that might be worth reducing to 400mg
