will be visiting friends north of Ashbourne at the weekend and at 37 weeks pregnant wanted to find local hospitals in case the need arises. Friends only been there a few weeks so don't know the area at all. Bit of a last minute trip but feel fine pregnancy wise, complication free, so see no reason not to go.

The NHS website gives the nearest options of Matlock, Macclesfield or Chesterfield

Anyone know of any others? Local/cottage hospital?

Hi there,

The Darley Dale birth centre is m/w led care (have friends who have had fab home-from-home births there) if you are low risk - details here

Probably you are equidistant from Chesterfield and the new Royal Derby Hospital which has a brand-new maternity suite with one enormous pool room. Might be further in miles, but quick to get to along A515/A52.
