when can you normally hear theheartbeat. Had my first appointment yesterday with eth midwife at 10 weeks - she couldn't hear anything. Can't remember how many weeks I was with ds 1 when I first heard it.

should I be worried yet?

don't be worried, IIRC it's about 16 weeks

dont stress....some people can pick it up earlier, but our mw usually baltently refuses to check before 16wks..although she did for me at 12wks due to prior mcs etc but she had to justify it in my notes...lol

don't worry hon, when I had my first m/w apt 10 days ago, she said we'll have a listen but prob won't hear the heart, said as long as she could hear the placenta it would be fine, as it happened we heard the heart anyways but it definatly wasn't expected.

no - I think it can be as late as 17 weeks.
