..in all honesty what are my chances of getting a section if I ask for one this time?

I have an appointment with the consultant tomorrow am fifteen weeks and am not convinced my body knows what to do in pregnancy & childbirth.

A previous MMC ended up in theatre under a GA at 12 weeks as the bleeding wouldn't stop.

What do you think advice appreciated.

shouldn't be any reason why not... if you had EMCS last time you should be offered ELCS this time. Mine was booked at 12 weeks.

I thought they would make me have a VBAC?

Had the same thing as you last pg. At my booking appointment was offered elcs right away. Vbac discussed as matter of course, but not an eye was blinked when i asked for elcs. Actually, neeting consultant at 34 weeks to discuss booking of elcs.

Final hopeful bump before I go.

good luck. VBAC never mentioned for me.

You have pretty much the same history as me, I also had pre-eclampsia, induction, fetal distress then EMCS with dd. With ds I was given the choice of an ELCS or VBAC, I chose the VBAC route, but they'd have been more than happy for me to have the ELCS. I'm currently 31 weeks pregnant with dc3 and got the impression that even after a successful VBAC last time they'd have gone the CS route if I'd asked. Good luck whichever you choose.

Hello Threelittleducks! (waves from november antenatal group)

megcleary · 25/08/2010 19:33

Well we went in and ran a little through the last labour and subsequent emcs and said it was mainly due to dd's distress.

If I was to labour I would be monitored and any sign of distress with baby I would be taken for a section. She said 80% of women who elect for VBAC in the hospital are successful.

She said most people come in with preconception/ thoughts did we have any. I said we had read the literature that had been sent with the appointment letter and added the numbers up and were nervous about the risks attached to a VBAC and were more confident with a ELCS.

She said I was very eloquent and had obviously looked into things and was happy to go ahead and book the section there and then.

DH and I pleased, God knows what will actually happen may do a Sam Cam and go early!!

well done - sounds like you got what you hoped for. As for starting early, if you are booked in for an ELCS and go into labour early you will have an EMCS (according to my MW).

Threelittleducks · 26/08/2010 12:21

hello hmmSleep !!! (waves back) how are you??

Congrats on the booked ELCS megcleary. Hope it all goes well for you :)

Can't wait to see my consultant and see what he says.
Getting tempted by thought of VBAC, but still think would prob be better with the ELCS.
