7 weeks pregnant - sickness stopped - away from home

Hi All
I'm 7+4 and since yesterday my sickness has totally stopped. I wasn't actually throwing up before but felt really sick especially on thursday and friday of last week... have an extremely hormonal weekend and then woke up yesterday feeling absolutely fine.. i.e. not pregnant.

I know rationally that this may or may not mean that I am going to miscarry but I cannot necessarily tell until I start bleeding or have it confirmed by an ultrasound. But I am away on holiday at the moment with my partner and two teenage step sons and just feel like it would be good to talk to someone about it. My partner is lovely but if I'm worried, then he's worried and there's no point both of us having a miserable time. I didn't really want come away as I was worried about being away from home if anything goes wrong - I know it's so early that even if I was at home the docs couldn't do anything to help anyway but I don't want to do anything like go swimming incase I miscarry in the pool and just wish it was time to come home even though we only got here yesterday :(

I'm sorry lucieloo. Although I felt sick most of the time in early pregnancy, it wasn't all the time and I did worry when I felt okay. Can you get a pregnancy test, maybe the clear blue one with the conception time indicator? Just rest in the meantime. Hope all is okay.

bankholiday · 24/08/2010 09:08

Lucieloo, I am 13 weeks now, but at about 8 weeks I was on holiday away from home as well and all my symptoms stopped suddenly. No nausea, no tiredness, no sore boobs. Having lost a baby before, I panicked and was sure all was lost this time too.

My symptoms were gone for about 3 days, but then came back with a vengeance. I couldn't have a scan so it was 3 very long, anxious days. However, the midwife then told me that babies go through growth spurts and most likely the LO was not growing so much in those few days when I was feeling better, so my hormones were settling a bit. She said it's a good sign I didn't have any bleeding and any cramps.

I hope this is somewhat reassuring, although it is definitely a worrying time and I know you can't really relax until you know for sure what's going on. But just try to take heart in the thought that it's very common for symptoms to come and go, and 7+ 4 is when they just start for most women, so you might very well have had a "warning" last week, which will be followed by more nausea shortly. Let us know how you are xx

I have to disagree, do NOT do pg test. After I had a d&c I had a positive test for 2 whole weeks afterwards cos the hormones are still there. So doing a test does not prove anything. And the clearblue conception indicator tests are well known to be inaccurate and have caused worry for many people who have perfectly healthy pregnancies.
anyway, in more positive news, my nausea came and went between 5 and 13 weeks. I even posted a similar thread to this one. A day or two later I felt like crap again. I'm 27w tomorrow. Every pg is different. I know people who had no nausea, I know people who only had it for a day or two.
Please try to enjoy your holiday. IF- and it's a big if - something is wrong, it's unlikely that you'll suddenly start pouring with blood, so don't stop doing things you enjoy "just in case".
Lots of luck.

I agree with vmcd, pregnancy tests only pick up the HCG hormone. And from having a previous miscarriage, pregnancy tests remain positive for a good while after miscarrying. I expect your symptoms will come back with a vengeance in the next few days and remember some lucky women breeze through pregnancy with no (horrible) symptoms at all! Smile

lucielooo · 24/08/2010 11:14

Thank you so much ladies :) your posts have made me feel much better.. I think (knowing me!) that doing a test is likely to do more harm than good because unless there's a test that can say 'YES YOUR BABY IS FINE' then it just gives something else to worry about!

Thank you all for your kind words though, I'm sure one of the hardest things to do is not panic about everything that can go wrong! bankholiday that's really useful to know what your midwife said. Fingers crossed in a few weeks I'll have my head over the loo wondering what I was worried, and if not then I can't change it anyway.

Thanks again all of you, and lots of luck with your pregnancies xxx

Lucieloo

I felt v pregant (sore boobs, sickness and sort of like my period was about to arrive) from about 4.5 weeks (when I started to think I might be pg) to about 6.5 weeks... I then felt FINE and had NO symptoms until about 11 weeks, when I briefly felt sick in the mornings and when hungry until about 14 weeks. And that was pretty much it for my pregnancy symptoms.

I am now 35 weeks with a baby that is currently kicking my bladder hard!

Try to enjoy your holiday. "Symptoms" really are no indicator of the pregnancy and its viability - your body is just awash with hormones and cuold do pretty much anything!

RooBear · 24/08/2010 11:25

I really wouldn't worry, I had no sickness at all, no symptoms nothing, I'm now 31wks with a very 'kicky' baby!

pinkgrasshopper · 24/08/2010 11:57

My symptoms stopped completely at around six weeks, prior to which I'd had really sore boobs and nausea. Nausea returned at ten weeks and sore boobs a few days ago- I'm 14 weeks now. The worry never stops but try and have a lovely holiday and keep us all posted.

lucielooo · 24/08/2010 12:22

Hi legallyblond I remember your BFP from when I used to go on the TTC forums.. so pleased to hear that your pregnancy is going well and you're very nearly there now!

Thanks RooBear and pinkgrasshopper :) just goes to show that it's different for everyone. I think there's a perception that in a 'normal' pregnancy your symptoms get consistantly worse as you go through the first trimester and then you suddenly bloom! Your reassurances have done the world of good. Whatever happens, I might at least enjoy the holiday (as long as my step-sons don't murder each other!)

Thanks again :) xx

Mine disappeared when I went on holiday for a week, I was about 10 weeks. I loved it! I'd been bordering hyperemetic in the weeks running up to the holiday, and was dreading it. But then being away, it pretty much disappeared - I had the odd queasy session when smelling certain foods, but on the whole, I felt great!

As soon as I came back to sunny old England though, it all kicked straight back in again, and didn't clear up till 21 weeks + :(

lucielooo · 24/08/2010 15:33

parkj83 How strange! maybe it's something about not having to get up and go to work?!

Oooh you answered the thread I just posted!

Glad things are good with you! Grin

lucielooo · 26/10/2010 16:09

Yep - your thread reminded me to update it.. I hated it when I was searching for threads on similar things and would find all the worry and identify with it all and then not find out if it was ok or not!

@lucielooo I know this thread is old but just wondering how you got on. I’m 7 weeks today and experiencing the exact same - having previously had two reoccurring miscarriages this past year. I’m terrified this is going to end in yet another missed miscarriage - I have a scan on Tuesday.....

Kkirk · 11/09/2021 15:40

How did this turn out for you? I just had a MC and hoping this one doesn’t lead that way….

Anxiouslyanxious1 · 30/03/2024 01:55

@SPNs was everything okay with you? I’m now in the same boat…

OurLastEmby · 03/04/2024 00:36

I doubt the posters from several years ago will answer but I’m in the same boat as you now. It’s been a few days since your post. How are you doing? Have you had a recent scan or one coming up?

Anxiouslyanxious1 · 03/04/2024 06:33

@OurLastEmby still a strong line on pregnancy tests and my symptoms returned albeit not the same as before - less nausea, but replaced with heartburn, breathlessness and general discomfort constantly. No scan yet, but I’m just under 8 weeks. Booking apt due in a week and scan after that. Will update you. I wouldn’t worry as long as you’re still having some symptoms (like breast tenderness, which never goes away for me, but slightly better than the very early days). My symptoms keep changing but definitely still feel pregnant. Fingers crossed for us both!

Georgie1x · 04/04/2024 15:04

@Anxiouslyanxious1 hi, I am also in the same boat all of my symptoms have stopped. I’ve had 2 miscarriages back to back since October 2023 and I’m now on cyclogest with this pregnancy. I had a scan earlier in the week which showed the heartbeat but since then I feel very different almost not pregnant at all, very worrying

Anxiouslyanxious1 · 04/04/2024 15:17

@Georgie1x How many weeks are you and how many days have your symptoms stopped for? It may be that you’re just now at the stage that symptoms subside (it does for most people towards the end of the first trimester) or like me your symptoms are changing. I had no symptoms for 1 day and since then they come and go. I checked with a friend who is a doctor and another who is pregnant and both reassured me that it’s normal for symptoms to come and go, and eventually fade towards the end of the first trimester..

Georgie1x · 04/04/2024 15:19

I am around 7 and a half weeks. I had an early scan because of my previous miscarriages. So far the cycolgest seems to be doing the trick but I’m not convinced it everything is ok untill the baby is actually here! Oh okay that’s reassuring! Symptoms have stopped now for 2 days but I still have strong second line on test however I know the horomone can stay in your body for some time

Anxiouslyanxious1 · 04/04/2024 18:51

@Georgie1x I see, well if it helps to further ease your anxiety once the baby has a heartbeat the risk of miscarriage drops significantly. Sending good wishes your way!

Georgie1x · 04/04/2024 22:39

That’s good to know, thank you
