New Moses Basket matress?

Hi. I bought my sister a moses basket from John Lewis 2 years ago for her first child.I am now borrowing this for my first. However, I wanted to buy a new matress but I need 73cmx27cm and can't seem to get it from anywhere, not even JL where it was originally bought from. Guess my questions are, firstly, do I need to? I'm thinking I should because both plan on having more than one child and will just re-use our own in the future. Secondly, does it matter if it is a bit of a squash round the edges (not sure 1cm will make that much difference though), and thirdly, where could I get one from?

might be worth checking on JL regarding what size they use.

Friends have lent us their moses basket and had real trouble finding a mattress (all seemed bit bigger).

As it was from M&P ended up going in there, only to find out they now put a bigger mattress in the baskets (previously there had been a 1cm gap around the edge).

Obviously once you know for sure what size you need you can shop around a bit.

I had this problem when brought a crib second hand as i chucked the matress as didnt want to use it and then struggled to get right size as its a larger than normal sized crib.

anyway I put in size into ebay and found one slightly more expensive than others but excellent seller can find details if you want from ebay history if you have no luck

Yes, you need a new mattress as presumably it's been stored somewhere (loft/garage/etc) and not kept out for 2 years.

yes you really need to get a new mattress, wouldn't be worried if it wasn't an exact fit. If the new mattress was a tiny bit too small you could use a thick bottom sheet, by the time it was tucked in there prob wouldn't be a gap at all. Plus once baby can move around alot they will prob be too big for moses basket anyway.
