How do I put it.........

So I have been looking into Perineal massage, and thinking of the other ways you can help stretch the area (Sex)

Me & DP have still been having SI throughout the pregnancy but not anything compared to before I fell pregnant - due to it being SO SORE? I have had the awful thrush recently Blush (currently 31+3) so we haven't had any for like 3 weeks, still do other things but i just want to be able to have some! lol so unfair!

So my Q's are...

  1. If i am still too sore to have sex how the hell am I going to push a baby out of my nethers?!
  1. i would rather use sex to stretch the area rather than perineal massage (BUT - they say sex can help induce labour so what do i do ?? I want to try the sex method to help stretch but dont want to bring on early labour this early on! ??

sorry if this sounds over the place, my head is spinning from lack of sleep!!!

Pushing the baby out isn't a choice, it will just happen (or not, in which case you'll have a CS). Sore bits are not going to stand in the way of progress.

Sex won't induce labour before you are ready, surely? Otherwise we'd all be banned for the whole 9 months. Just have sex if you want to.

Oh i know that but i mean as time progresses & the weeks go on.

I'm sure it'll be fine. just got to hope its not sore still!!

When its ready the baby will come out. Whether you shag or not - now or at 39 weeks, or even at 42 weeks if you last that long - is not going to make any difference.

Sex will not bring on labour too early, although it has been known to bring labour on if your body/baby is ready (it definitely did with my DS1 at 37 weeks).

I agree with Haliborange though that pushing the baby out isn't a choice - and your sore bits will all be forgotten when you are in the midst of labour.
Hope you are feeling ok and the thrush has cleared up.

Thrush will make sex painful - aren't you getting this treated? 3 weeks sounds an awfully long time for it to be uncontrolled.

Unless there are other factors involved, regular sex won't bring on premature labour.

Dozeyland · 24/08/2010 09:43

I have been treated twice. this time its worked thankfully.

I am fully aware that "pushing ISN'T a choice"! I was just saying it seems impossible.

as it does seem impossible pushing something the size of a water melon out of your fanjita that is tiny- women are amazing!

Apparently perineal massage gets easier as you continue doing it. Just make sure your nails are trimmed because it hurts like hell if they're sharp. And i couldn't continue it because my belly got in the way and I couldn't reach Blush
