Are you drinking enough water?

Think of all your liquid intake that is protecting and nurturing your baby. Make sure you've got plenty for yourself too.

I've started getting migraines since I became pregnant, never had anything like them before at all. I also get smaller headaches come on just for an hour or so, I feel your pain!!

I've been getting piercing headached since about 14 +3 (am now 16 + 3). They are lasting a couple of days.

Drinking loads. My NCT book says that this is pretty normal - I'll have a look at its suggestions but think it was just the usual 'drink enough, sleep enough' etc. If there's anything interesting I'll post it.

I had serious migraines in my second pregnancy very early on and upped my water intake which did help in that they weren't so frequent. I didn't know then, but do now, that it is safe to take paracetamol in pregnancy. I got headaches again in this pregnancy and again upped my water to at least 2 lts a day and they went - although obviously spent a lot of time on the loo! I only had to take paracetamol on about 3 occasions. Congrats on your pregnancy!

yeah beckie I gt headaches too. Really painful ones. I'm trying to drink more water but that makes me feel sick!! Can't win. I used to pre pregnancy drink 3 - 4 litres f water a day but now I'm on maybe 1 litre, so it's not suprising my body isn't happy.

There's an accupuncture point on your hand that (I knwo this sounds a little new age) when you rub it really does help headaches - even my GP friend who disbelieves in reflexology/the theory behind it says it works and she doesn't know medically how!). It's hard to explain but if you hold your hand in front of you (palm to the floor) there's a big gap between your thumb and first finger. If with the thumb of your other hand you feel inside that gap there's a bit of skin that you can trace up if you press so you find where the bones of your finger and thumb meet (maybe 2/3 cms up). Press down hard with your other thumb right into the skin so the end of your thumb presses down on the bone of the meeting point of the thumx/finger (the rest of your thumb should be on the skin 'gap' between the thumb and finger). If it hurts, you've found the right spot (I find the worse the headache the worse it hurts to press). You sort of press down and make tiny circular motions in each direction for a minute or so then do the same on the other hand.

Sorry, I probably have explained that really badly and you can probably find better instructions online somewhere. It doesn't always get rid of headaches, but it provides relief whilst I press the point on my hand and for a short time after.

i found it angels1 thankyooouu. :)

tbh i think im suffering with my iron levels, i did last time and was already slightly anemic before pregnancy.
im just looking really terrible, my face is all pasty, think a trip to the docs may be in order. dont know if the headaches are anything to do with that or not
