We have been trying for no 2 for a while - nothing was happening. I had a rather boozy night out on a Thursday night then found out I was pregnant today... Anyone else been in teh same situation - how much damage could I have done??

You will have done no damage whatsoever. Promise. Smile

I got slaughtered before I knew I was pregnant and DS is perfect. It'll be fine.

SaorAlba · 21/08/2010 11:36

Everything I have read on this says that as long as you stop after you find out it will be okay, so I wouldn't worry.

Congratulations :)

MissWooWoo · 21/08/2010 11:37

don't give it another thought, it happens all the time ...congratulations! I also got sloshed a couple of days before I found out I was pregnant this time round, we'll be fine. Smile

Congratulations!!

Last November I had been referred to fertility consultant as couldn't get pregnanct. so had a few very boozy and depressed nights drowning my sorrows, then discovered that month that I was pregnant. Doctor and MW (yes mentioned it to both) told me not to worry about it but to stop drinking from then on. Due any minute now, so no idea if I have caused any damage, but even with the Drs reassurance I still feel guilty, but trying not to think about it.

Maggieny · 21/08/2010 11:38

that makes me feel so much better - thank you - I feel really guilty! Fingers crossed all will be ok...
thanks ladies!

I found out I was pg with ds just after new year. I'd had A LOT of boozy nights out over Christmas and New Year ds was born following August and he's perfect. Even if I do say so myself Grin

Don't worry I'm sure it happens all the time. Congratulations!!

pinkgrasshopper · 21/08/2010 11:42

Absolutely nothing to worry about. The clinical research into alcohol use has never shown one big night out in the early days to cause damage. Mind you nor has it shown that it is necessary to be teetotal in pregnancy but that's one for another thread...

Buttonnosedsausage · 21/08/2010 11:45

Congratulations Smile
Don't worry - really.

I had a 2 week boozy holiday just before I found out I was pregnant...Ds is fine.

Skimty · 21/08/2010 12:19

The night before I found out I was pregnant with DS I thought that I flew home because I was a snow angel.

Then dealt with unexpected and unplanned pregnancy with a massive hangover...

PickleSarnie · 21/08/2010 12:24

I doubt a large percentage of conceptions would ever have happened unless a copious amount of booze was involved!!

Don't worry!!

Pancakeflipper · 21/08/2010 12:24

I am another who had a completely brill night out in the wine bar with my girlfriends and the next evening discovered I was pregnant.. I was worried but when I told the nurse she said she'd not known she was pregnant until 11 weeks gone and been downing G&T's every weekend for months.

Shhhdonttell · 21/08/2010 13:30

The night before I found out I was PG I went on the bender to end all benders (work xmas party, free bar, Jagerbombs... It was quite messy!) I am now due in 4 weeks, baby has been fine, pregnancy has been fine and Docs and MW have reassured me that my baby will NOT come out pickled. I would not worry about what has been done and get on with enjoying your pregnancy and looking forward to your DC's arrival!

lucy101 · 21/08/2010 15:11

I did a pregnancy test each day after the date of my missed period, the first 2/3 came back negative. I was so fed up about it that I got drunk on the third day... the next day I had a positive test! This happens all the time apparently. FAS is probably more to do with sustained heavy drinking throughout a pregnancy (I say 'probably' as the research is still inconclusive as to how much actual alcohol and when it's consumed affects babies).

Applemuncher · 21/08/2010 17:10

I had the same thing as everyone else - boozy works night out, manager to put away a bottle and a half of wine and a few Pimms. Found out I was pregnant a few weeks later.

Am now 9 weeks pregnant, I did mention it to the doctor when I saw her and she said that if I had done any harm then I would have just miscarried very early days and probably wouldn't have ever known I was pregnant!

In short, put it behind you, don't give it another thought!

cordonbleugh · 21/08/2010 17:14

never mind alcohol, I was seriously depressed and took an overdose of 50 paracetemol before finding out I was pregnant a week later!

DD is now 4 and absolutely fine!!

Seriously, I know you feel terrible, and guilty and worried but as others have said, it's very very common!

Maggieny · 26/08/2010 20:49

I miscarried yesterday...feeling super low, guilty, can't concentrate at work... Will try, try, try again but sad...:-(

Oh no. Sad So sorry. But it was almost certainly NOTHING whatsoever to do with anything you did or didn't do.
