Anyone else got shortness of breath and palpitations?

Hi

I'm 9 weeks pg and I've noticed over the last couple of weeks that I'm having heart flutters (like it's beeting irregularly) which are accompanied by light headedness and difficult catching my breath. It kind of feels like I want to cough. Each bout only lasts for a few seconds but they're a bit of a concern.

I'm just a but worried because I'm not due my first mid-wife appointment until September so I don't really have anyone to ask. I think I would have felt better if my GP had taken my blood pressure when I went to tell her I was pregnant but I literally just went there to get a referral and there was zero interest in anything else.

Anyone else got this?

I have had that through out, I'm at 30 weeks now (28 was the worst cause he was pressing up so high, he's turned head down now). My midwife says it's normal, blood pressure mixed with my asthma and the baby growing and moving putting strain on the body, ect. But if you're concerned, give her a ring! I try to hold back until my appointments to tell her things and have gotten yelled at. If you're concerned, ring her up, just talk to her about how it feels and even if she says it's nothing, you'll feel better, honest!

If you sit and wait it out, even if it is nothing, you could end up stressing yourself or making your blood pressure rise, you dont need that.

Be kind to yourself, if you're anxious, call and ask Smile You might feel a little stupid like I do but better safe than sorry and honestly, if it's nothing, the worst she can do is say 'It's nothing' which is actually pretty good.

I had it very often in my last pregnancy and it was horrible. I found that staying away from any caffeine helped (that included chocolate - sob!) and downloading some relaxing hypnotherapy stuff onto my ipod to listen to in the evenings helped.

I did have some checks done and whilst there was a definite "extra beat" happening the doc said that it was very common, worse during pregnancy and harmless unless there was a history of or clear sign of another serious underlying heart problem.

Tell your midwife, they will probably do some checks but try not to worry. Mine went as soon as I had the baby!

Yes, me. I would get yourself tested for anaemia just in case - my levels dropped a lot in first trimester and after some iron tablets I felt much better. I am taking spatone now just to keep things on an even keel. Also, I think your blood pressure can get lower in pg - mine was at my last mw appt (am 23 wks) and that can make you feel a bit faint/dizzy and breathless. But do get checked over to put your mind at rest by mw or docs. Hope you feel better soon.

Yes, have had this since 8 weeks. Sometimes (like today) it lasts all day. Midwife and consultant say it's normal (but feels pretty unpleasant).

yes I get this too. sometimes it's just in passing and sometimes it lasts for ages. I've had it since about 10 weeks (now nealry 14). Sometimes mine makes me also feel jittery and shaky and it's nasty. I rang my doc who said in my case it's nothing, just hormones and/or anxiety, but don't want to put you off asking the professionals.

I'm 35+1 and have had it for a few weeks. I didn't know this was a symptom of anaemia but have been anaemic for the last 7 weeks at least. They don't normally do blood tests this early but it's probably worth having a GP appointment to check. At least if that's it, it's easily sorted with tablets.

I'm not pg now but had this a lot when I was pregnant with my DD. I was also quite anaemic.

I'm on my 3rd baby, and had thme with both and this time, they drive me nut's/

I had a ECG with my last pregnancy and all was fine.

I also went to the doctor last week and she listened and said all was fine, but to reassure me she said she would do a ECG next week.

Also on my husbands app on his phone for pregnancy, it sais it is very common in pregnancy due to extra blood.

Still dont stop me worrying cause its so annoying.
