trace of glucose in urine

I went for my 16 week check up with the midwife and she said there was a 'trace' of glucose in my urine. She said this was 'probably' nothing to worry about and could have been due to what I'd eaten at breakfast, but that it would have to be checked again at 28 weeks.

I am now worried that I might be susceptible to getting gestational diabetes. I had no problems with my previous pregnancy, am only a size 8 (around 8 1/2 stone) so am not really in the 'risk' group. I'm just confused that she said she'd check at 28 weeks -that's ages away. In the meantime should I be cutting down sugar? I eat pretty healthily and exercise a bit, though not as much now I'm pregnant. Does anyone know anything about this condition?

don't know anything but i had a similar result.
i did another wee test a few days later (dropped it off with gp i think) as i told MW i'd only worry if i had to wait till next appointment.

are you sure you don't have another one till 28 weeks? i seem to remember having more than that. Hmm

no, because it's my 2nd pregnancy they don't really look after us as well- a bit rubbish!

was your 2nd result clear then? I just want to know if this happens and next time it can be fine?

Oh yeah it was fine next time. Seriously if you are worried then phone mw and ask if you can drop off some wee for someone to test. They only have to drip a stick in it so won't put anyone out! :)

yeah, I had this, worried a lot, got all sorts of books about diabetes, and then a week later it was fine
