I am 35 weeks pregant with my first and am starting to stress!!!

Just need to rant and be told all will be ok - sorry!

  1. We live in a (tiny) 2 bed flat... my wonderful DH has taken it upon himself to do a load of DIY jobs before the baby arrives (he is on school hols) including glossing all the woodwork white. This means ALL the furniture in the entire flat is in the middle of each room (so the skirting boards can be reached), all the curtains etc are down and all our stuff is piled in the middle of each room on the furniture. The only thing clear is our bed! Eeek!
  1. This morning, we discovered that the flat above us has a leak - water was POURING down our bathroom wall from a leak in the ceiling (their bathroom is directly above ours). They seem to be on holiday and no-one has a key. Gulp!
  1. Our car was vandalised (long story) and, although the repairs are covered by insurance, we are now without a car, while it is fixed, for 2 weeks. Arrrgh!
  1. All the baby stuff is piled in the middle of various rooms as the baby's room is not yet sorted / can't be until all the DIY is done. Sigh!
  1. I STILL have not packed a hospital bag. Ooops!
  1. I am working for another 3 weeks! Why!

I know I am just stressing.... all will be fine, right?!

Sorry for the rant - I have no reason to complain really. These are just minor things (in a way it is good as they are distracting me from what I think are irrational but normal worries/fears like "will the baby be ok?" "can I cope?" "I feel like the baby is disabled and I know this secretly in my heart of hearts".... and all that stuff that goes round and round in my head....)

Oh and, re the car, am keeping everything crossed that I don't go into labour while its being repaired - the hospital is at least a 40 min drive away and we have yet to do a test run.... I don't think a taxi would take me....

Oh God, I sympathise. The house was bedlam when I was 35 weeks with DS as we were having major renovations done on the house. I had crippling SPD too....

He arrived early at 37 weeks! All was well, if a little chaotic!

You'll be fine. It'll look lovely when all the painting is done. Hopefully you'll get the leak and car sorted soon.

Renovations going on here too. Upstairs is fine now - finally. But downstair is a state and our exension has yet to be built - it is barely started. So we have a crappy old tiny sixties kitchen at the moment and a damp horrid bathroom and bare floorboards in the sitting room and the fireplace and mantlepiece is yet to be installed.

So I feel your pain. The thing is, you will cope whatever the outcome. Even if certain things aren't finished, you will have no choice but to carry on!

I suggest you do a bit of crying to your OH. Tears tend to work for me - I know it is a bit 1950's and not very feminist but at least my DH gets his arse into gear! Wink
