Have a varicose vein on right labia. Bit like a blood blister and getting larger slowly. I'm 31 weeks and noticed yesterday couple of small spots of blood from it but no more bleeding since. Very worried it will burst and bleed uncontrollably but MW has told me there is no real treatment for it during pregnancy and they will go away. Doesn't stop me worrying though any advice or prev experience of them bursting and bleeding before delivery ??? Thanks

I had a really awful one during my 1st pregnancy, midwife was useless (she didn't even know what it was) so I went to the dr.

The dr prescribed some piles cream and the vein shrunk to almost nothing within 2 days, I was very pleased as I had been in alot of pain with it bleeding and scabbing over when I walked.

Basically they are exactly the same as piles, just that they are at the front end instead.

It is quite astonishing to find how "useless" some midwifes can be with advice for some normal pregnancy complaints. Your midwife should have told you about the piles cream - you shouldn't have had to find that out a mumsnet! Shock

I hope you get sorted and are feeling more comfortable soon.

wow I didnt think that would work. I suffered from piles first time round and thought I was oh so lucky not to have them this time but oh no I go and get something even worse. I will go and try that straight away thanks rocklover. ps did yours bleed a lot, I get worried when I read about stemming the bleed then seeking medical attention ?????? Does this mean it will bleed more profusley than say your average cut?
