Hiya, I am nearly 36 weeks and have woken up feeling very odd.

I woke up about an hour ago and have been up and about the house, I feel very disorientated and confused. Whilst I was ironing a shirt for the OH I got even more disorientated - I can't really explain it but it felt like it wasn't my arm doing the ironing.

I have since sat down and have been seeing small white spots in front of my eyes and am struggling to remember correct words to explain how I feel.

I just wondered if anyone has ever had anything like this? I am just having some breakfast to see if that makes me feel any better, but really don't know what's wrong. Thanks x

I don't have any advice am 37 weeks with my first. Just wanted to know am thinking about you, I think I would call your mw. Keep posting and take care.

Phone your maternity ward or midwife. It may be nothing but could indicate pre-eclampsia so really important you get checked out. Let us know how you get on.

flower1988 · 19/08/2010 08:13

I've just called them and they said eat, wait half an hour and the see how it is. Hopefully that's going to sort it out, I'll let you know x Thanks xx

I think you should probably ring your mw or the ante-natal unit at hospital - changes in vision and generally feeling unwell can be signs of pre-eclampsia.

Hope ou feel better soon

Treetrunkthighs · 19/08/2010 08:15

Sorry, Thatdamndog beta me to it!

addictedisgettingexcited · 19/08/2010 08:27

how are you feeling now? any improvement - if it is low blood sugar (which is why they would have told you to eat something) you would start to feel an improvement by now.
if your feeling no improvement, dont let oh go to work just yet and phone the mw back.

hope you feel better soon

flower1988 · 19/08/2010 08:43

I still feel pretty much the same, just sat her for about five minutes trying to remember my dogs name! It's Rusty, I remember now.

The midwife is going to come round at some point this morning and take my blood pressure/do a urine test. Hopefully that will say I'm ok and this is just a bit of a weird episode>

addictedisgettingexcited · 19/08/2010 08:50

flower1988 · 19/08/2010 09:04

Unfortunately I'm starting to get a headache and feel sick so I don't feel overly confident about this! Will let you know x

Oh sweetie, it could just be a migraine - or anxiety of course now we have all scared you! I hope things are alright.

jetgirl · 19/08/2010 09:08

Can you ask your mw to come urgently or get to the hospital? Hope it's all ok x

lucybrad · 19/08/2010 09:16

go to the hospital. This doesnt sound normal an its better to be safe and get it checked with a doctor.

ThatDamnDog · 19/08/2010 10:22

Sorry to hear you're not feeling better. I would agree that as it's getting worse it would be wise to phone your midwife and see if she can come right now, and if not get yourself to the antenatal ward. Is there anyone who can come and get you?

TonariNoTotoro · 19/08/2010 10:27

Please go and see your MW and get tested for pre-eclampsia

hope you feel better soon.

ThatDamnDog · 19/08/2010 10:28

Just overlooked the fact that i've been out for a walk with DS and the dogs and i've missed an hour - hopefully you're feeling fine now and have seen the midwife.

flower1988 · 19/08/2010 10:31

Hiya, midwife has come. Did the normal tests and all ok luckily :)

She thinks it is the start of a migrane (headache getting worse) so I'm going to turn off the computer and try and get a nap or something!

Thanks for all the advice everyone, I feel a lot less worried now! xx

Thanks for letting us know Smile

Sorry you are feeling poorly - keep an eye on that head and also any swelling, pain under ribs etc.

Hope it passes soon x

Deliaskis · 19/08/2010 13:28

I was going to say earlier that that is exactly how I feel when I am getting a migraine, but didn't want to make you 'un-worry' if you should have been getting medical help IYSWIM!

As the other very wise ladies have said keep an eye on yourself (as it were) and have a lie down.
